I kicked off a busy weekend early by taking the horse drawn trolley tour of Haunted Waterville tonight! The 1.5 hour event started with a presentation inside the Robbins House. This was led by our friends from TOGHS (Toledo Ohio Ghost Hunters Society) and featured evidence of hauntings in and around Waterville that weren’t included on the tour. Zlatan kicked this all off by questioning EA over his image rights, and that nobody should be able to buy or sell his image rights without his permission. BOOK REVIEW Or in this case, I should say reviews! After reading ‘And Then There Were None’ for our book club book last month, I went on a bit of an Agatha Christie kick and read all 3 of these in a row... and since they’re not only all Christie, but also all from her Poirot series, I decided it would be fitting to review them together. I’ve been really enjoying these! Christie is the only author I’ve found who is capable of consistently stumping me! I haven’t been able to work out a single one of these!! And yet all the clues are always there... Her plots are sheer genius! And I really enjoy the writing style, very old style British, but super easy to read. And the settings! In Death on the Nile we get a river cruise down the Nile, in Appointment with Death we visit Petra, and in the Murder of Roger Ackroyd we get the quintessential English village. Honestly, I don’t think I could rate any of them above the others, but if I really had to pick, I especially enjoyed Appointment With Death. I found the story original and the twist fantastic and, unusually for Christie, there’s even a touch of romance! But honestly if like me, you love a good mystery for the sake of the mystery itself and love to try and work it out, and especially love to not be able to work it out, you can’t go past any of these! Or any Christie for that matter! I’ll definitely be reading more of hers! I am not a sheep. I will not follow the narrative of the media thoughtlessly and I will not be bullied for asking the tough questions, when all my instincts are telling me something doesn’t make sense.
