🎶𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴🎶 how long we’ve been waiting for the definitive 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝘽𝙤𝙮𝙨 documentary on @disneyplus, but it’s finally here! 🎶🎊 To celebrate, I’m sharing highlights from when we saw 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒔𝒐𝒏 perform the entire 𝑷𝒆𝒕 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒔 album for its 50th anniversary back in 2016. With how fragile his health seems to be nowadays, I’m really grateful that we got to see one of his final concert tours when we did. 🥹🤩 He was joined by fellow Beach Boy 𝑨𝒍 𝑱𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒆, Al’s son Matt Jardine (hitting those falsettos perfectly👌🏼) and 𝑩𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒏 (who was a brief member of the band back in the 1970s.) ↔️ Highlights: 𝑴 𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒅 opened for Brian and was joined by his 𝑺𝒉𝒆 & 𝑯𝒊𝒎 band mate 𝒁𝒐𝒐𝒆𝒚 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒍 for a cover of “Rave On” (made famous by the late Buddy Holly.) The Beach Boys hits bookended the live album performance and included: 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙖 𝙂𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙨, 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙧 𝙂𝙞𝙧𝙡, 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙇𝙤𝙣𝙜, 𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙈𝙚 𝙍𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙖, and 𝙁𝙪𝙣, 𝙁𝙪𝙣, 𝙁𝙪𝙣. The draw of course was hearing the iconic Pet Sounds live so I shared clips of my faves from the album: 𝙒𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙄𝙩 𝘽𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙄’𝙢 𝙒𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙮, and 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙊𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙨 (one of the most beautiful songs ever written.) 👏🏼😍 Brian got a standing ovation after that one naturally. 🙌🏼 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒔𝒐𝒏 also joined for the encore. (We ended up walking behind her to our cars after the concert. 😅😆) There’s a reason why 𝘗𝘦𝘵 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 is heralded as one of pop music’s greatest most inspirational albums of all time. The harmonies and studio innovations have stood the test of time. 🤌🏼 I still get chills seeing these clips and remembering what a great show this was. The #BellamyBrothers, Howard and David out of Dade City, Florida, were one of tween Scott’s favorites. I wore out their Greatest Hits cassettes during long summers mowing neighborhood lawns. They had quite a string of country hits in the 80s, including 20 chart toppers, some full of quirky wordplay like “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body (Would You Hold it Against Me)” and others run through with a soft pop and soul undercurrent like #CrazyFromTheHeart and “All My Love Tonight”. Their first major single, in 1976, was actually a #1 pop crossover hit, #LetYourLoveFlow. Other faves include “I Could Be Persuaded”, #SantaFe, and #OldHippie. #TGrahamBrown has one of the more gritty voices from the 80s #countrypolitan era. He got his start singing jingles for major companies like McDonald’s, Budweiser, Ford and many more, but his most memorable ad campaign is surely the #RunFortheBorder, Louise series he did for #TacoBell, which coincided with his hit-making period of the late 80s/early 90s. Songs like “Darlene”, “Hell and High Water”, and “I Tell It Like It Used to Be” really showcase his soulful vocals. #EdBruce was a successful singer, songwriter, and sometime actor. He did two seasons of “Bret Maverick” with James Garner. His recording career spanned from 1957–when Sam Phillips recorded his first single for Sun Records—till his death in 2021. His biggest personal hit was “You’re the Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had” but he also wrote major country anthems like #TanyaTucker’s #TexasWhenIDie and #WaylonandWillie’s #MamasDontLetYourBabiesGrowUpToBeCowboys #GlenCampbell is here today and he’ll be here tomorrow, too, so I’ll share my personal story tomorrow and the cold facts today. Glen came out of Arkansas and became one of the key members of #TheWreckingCrew, a collective of session artists in LA responsible for 100s of major pop hits. He was one of the greatest guitar pickers who ever lived and charted over 80 singles on the pop, #country, and AC charts like #Galveston, #ByTheTimeIGetToPhoenix, #WichitaLineman, and #GentleOnMyMind. This photoshoot took place to promote the upcoming Matt Helm film, "The Wrecking Crew" — which Sharon played the supporting role of Freya Carlson. It is unclear why she wasn't wearing her iconic red Freya wig during this photoshoot, or why she didn't wear any of her costumes for the film. My guess is it had something to do with promoting Sharon's career as well, since she gained fame for her role in "Valley of the Dolls" with blonde hair, and many people wouldn't recognize her with red hair. This was the last film she made under contract with Martin Ransohoff's Filmways, Inc. Her dress (lilac v-neck mini) was one of her own, she had eight of the same dress, but in different colors. We made the decision recently to drop Teddy back a day at kindy and not chase the $$ by me working an extra day so that our littlest pikinini could have an extra day with mum. After three years of daycare a couple of days a week he wasn’t coping with four days kindy and we just saw him spiralling and struggling as only a four year old boy can express. It was full on! We have seen instant and heart warming change since we responded to this need and made the decision based on his wellbeing instead of putting in place consequences in an attempt to eliminate the less than desirable behaviours we were seeing ( and believe me they were really not desirable). 😂😂🙈🙈 We are blessed that we can be flexible and make this work. He starts school next year so we want to give him as much connection and time at home before too many demands are in place. Billy Strange, great guitarist part of The Wrecking Crew band, they were the backing band for many hit records in the 60s, this is his second solo album, and instrumental record from 1964 called Mr. Guitar. His take on "Kansas City" is the heaviest guitar tone I've heard from this period, in those days you had mainly simple tube amps that would only distort when completely cranked.
