Here are some words of what is for me the best cigarette lighter ever made. Dunhill’s Rollagas. Unfortunately not suited for cigars, it is an epic piece of Swiss manufacturing. Small, light, nimble and reliable yet what strikes me most is the build complexity and details. Apart from the standard flame there was also a version made with a horizontal flame for pipe smokers. Apart from several inherited ones I was fortunate enough to buy a few horizontal flames before they were discontinued. INTERESTING: WOW! I have just RE-followed Dunhill’s account. I unfollowed them a couple of years ago after seeing a “man-purse” too many. Just looked at their feed right and I am very pleasantly surprised to see that Dunhill has gone back to elegance rather than androgynous girly-toyboys of years back. My first impression with the Winter edition by AVO is that very controversial light saturated Colorado colour of the cape. Living by default in a rather dry environment I favour the darker rougher wrappers since they hold up better in these conditions. Capes like this one are usually bitter on the tongue but this one is neutral almost sweet... Here goes the AVO Seasons “Winter”. ❄️❄️❄️ Very nice! Well balanced and elegant neutral aroma. A bit too neutral at first but the hints of leather and cardamom after a couple of draws...💨 Very light touches of leather and cedar... 💨💨 Like many of the seasons editions, it strikes me how balanced this cigar is... 💨💨💨 At the end (last third) there is a notable increase in leather and cardamom and woods... 💨💨💨💨 A very pleasant smoke. Not as good as the Autumn edition but a very good cigar nonetheless. Perhaps a bit overpriced when compared to the Autumn edition but diferent enough to have one or two boxes in your humidor. As I said before, I will miss these and still think these should be made into a “seasonal” edition to be purchased once a year. This Winter edition is to be enjoyed with a Gin&Tonic. Very recommended. 👍 RATING: 8/10 P.s. What an epic cigar. The Sublime 2004 is an absolute reference. The balance between aroma and taste. The much sought after nut and peanut notes. Every time I enjoy one of these I wish I could stop time to make the smoke last forever. I was fortunate enough to buy enough boxes of these when they were released. At standard retail, a price unthinkable today. Many proficient cigars aficionados are very surprised at how a 20 year old cigar can still feel and taste that good. I can't show you how it tastes but I as you can see the tip when cut has not crumbled into pieces. The colour of the ash and regular combustion are also hits. Thank good that after many trials and errors I managed to find the perfect cigar stocking system. Every time I look at the LUC #CT5 I get a bit of nostalgia. I can say that it was a great honour to have been part (as a collector) almost from the start of LUC's birth. An unforgettable journey that began back in 2008. For that I have nothing but appreciation for unforgettable moments with all those involved and nothing but respect for the founding Scheufele family. An old-school education and attention to detail that is unfortunately very out of use today. Unfortunately, changes in management often set diferent goals and strategies. Changes like the "dehumanisation" by brands that once were close to their customers. A commercial strategy that began as yet another result to the "2020 HYPE" wave. Artificial, scarcity, purchase history and a dehumanisation in the relationship with clients are now the new roadmap for many brands today. Will it work for them? Time will tell... Focus stacking isn't my favourite technique with product photography. It 's sometimes an acceptable recourse if you don't happen to have a tilt/shift lens. The technique works fine for landscape and macro but for shots like that, Photoshop has difficulty in properly selecting in-focus areas on evenly textured surfaces.
