I love that while Not That Kind Of Icing is a Sports Romance, Stella Stevenson puts her unique spin on this type of romance. Delivering a bedazzling plot with delicious twists! The storytelling ensnared me hook, line, and sinker into a tantalising plot of swoony will they, won't they chemistry with heated looks and lots of forbidden romance with consequences. The pacing was a delightful tango of resistance between spice and ice between two main characters who are as different as day and night, locked and loaded with lots of juicy, zesty banter and digs. More wonderful characters to give us all warm flutters of the heart! Stella Stevenson, we feel spoiled because of your glorious characters – perfectly crafted with lots of heart, emotions, and everyday dumb stuff that makes them endearingly human in how they think, act, and talk. I emotionally bonded with Tristan; I could relate to her personality and how she reacts to the world based on her past experiences and trauma. 📕REVIEW📕 Ohh I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book by @stellastevensonwrites This is a second chance romance as Will and AJ are thrown back together on a dating show where Will’s mum chooses his wife. AJ is just this beautiful soul and I really loved the fact she was curvy and was confident with it. As someone who is also curvy, it’s just refreshing to have representation which is real, including times when you lose that confidence. AJ is kind and is a total babe ❤️❤️ Will is perfect, and whilst at first I wanted him to stand up to people, I can totally understand why he doesn’t and when he finally does, it makes me adore him more. The man is in love with AJ and there is no hiding that. This is 💯 worth a read. 🌶️🌶️/5
Not That Kind of Icing by Stella Stevenson released yesterday! It is the second in The Arctic series. On Ice is the first book in the series. This story is about such a lovely couple. Tristan is such a badass. She had been taking care of her four siblings for a very long time and is working in a male dominated field. She doesn't go easy on herself. Vic is is giant sweetheart and exactly what Tristan needs, she just takes some time to see that. They also have great group surrounding them. I really loved the illustrations added. I was expecting the accidental marriage part to happen earlier in the book. The book can be read as a standalone but the reading experience will likely be better if you've read On Ice before starting this. REVIEW- You have enemies to lovers, dislike to like, mega desire on both sides, steamy dialogue, filthy mouth MMC, playful banter and flirting, amazing nicknames, hockey, grumpy/sunshine, black cat/golden retriever, and so much more. Vic is amazing. He knows what he wants and even though he knows he shouldn't, once he gets the chance he grabs it refusing to let go. He has never wanted things before and the fact Tristan is his goal, makes me weak at my knees. The way he goes through so much and stays true to his words is something to be admired. Tristan is a powerhouse of a character, she is grumpy and gives off icy vibes, but deep down she is a cinnamon roll and Vic easily brings that out in her despite how much she tries not to let him in. Their relationship is playful and hot beyond all words. Tristan is honestly a better woman than me because I would have folded so fast every time I was around that man. I have not read the first book, but I didn't feel lost at all. (literally picking up the second book the moment I post this) The book follows Tristian who is the social media manager for a professional hockey team. Dating hockey players is off limits but when Tristian is forced to team up with Victor Varg to distract from a scandal she finds herself in a little too deep. I really didn't like Victors character in the beginning, but the way Stella pieces the storyline together had me hooked from chapter 1 and I obviously fell in love with him. (The puppies did me in let's be honest) The added social media post images were perfection. (again the puppies!!) I've been waiting a while to read this book and it was definitely worth the wait. Tristan starts out being very cold and unfriendly towards Victor but that soon changes. Victor knows there is more to Tristan than her "ice queen" persona she shows everyone. He cared for her so well and she needed that after spending her life caring for her siblings the way she did. She also knew he needed to ask for things and they both pushed each other to be better about what they needed. I loved how close Tristan was with her siblings and how they would interact, it was funny. Their group chat was hilarious. I also liked how Victor's mom accepted Tristan and welcomed her into their family. I liked how Quinn and Erik were featured in the book too, and that they accepted Tristan too. “I saw the way my boy looked at you in those videos. I heard the way he talked about you to his friends, his teammates.” “Like I was a thorn in his side and he wanted me far on the other side of an Olympic-sized ice rink?” “Like you were the one ray of sunshine he was willing to keep all for himself, even if he knew he couldn’t.” Every woman deserves a man like Victor, and I loved how well he treated and cared for Tristan.
