SME Series III Tonearm Quite simply the most beautiful tonearm ever made, which was introduced in 1978 and won a British Design Council Award, to be deserving of the name. The SME Series III came into a world of low mass moving magnet cartridges tracking at unfeasibly low weights. By today’s standards, it has a soft sound, it’s pleasingly smooth and pleasant. As a result, you’re left with a sluggish but pleasing sound.
