🚨Exhibition Alert🚨 V&A - Fragile Beauty - a collection by Sir Elton John and David Furnish. I love photography but I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this collection. When the name Elton John pops into your head you don't automatically think photography, right? 🎶🎵🎤🎹🤔 However, the collection he has built together over the years with David Furnish is just mesmerising. Especially some of the raw photography of works from artists in the 70/80s who they supported back in a time when the world saw it as highly controversial, but they saw it as this 'fragile beauty'. It's a broad and wonderful collection spanning, beauty, love, music, politics. It will make you stop and think, which in my opinion, makes a fantastic and powerful exhibition. Yesterday morning I was at @vamuseum for their latest blockbuster exhibition Fragile Beauty. All photos selected personally from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish collection ( which they have thousands to choose from) it was an excellent and surprising exhibition and good proportion have never been seen in public before. Music, Film, Celebrity, Fashion, Photojournalism, America and Abstraction are all major areas covered with a large section on ' the male form' ( for those who like it ) and a more adult set of photos . The highlight for me was probably the ' Falling Man' from the Twin Towers atrocities . Incredible to see close up and in so much detail. We worked with @ebbaarchitects and @setworksltd to design these custom lights with bespoke matte chrome hand sprayed dimmable LED bulbs. We were then able to ensure the works were all 50lux for conservation while giving the first section titled Fashion the sparkle and glamour it needed. Bernie started collaborating with Elton after they both separately answered a Liberty Records advertisement for talent in the NME in 1967.
