Он утонул! Год назад попросили товарищи оказать помощ по восстановлению корабля после его поднятия со дна морского. От денег отказался, закинул во вселенную и во благо Посейдона свой труд. Ну нужно иногда так делать. Но видно название корабля сильно по нраву владыке морскому. Да и обстоятельства вокруг него вечно не в дугу. В общем опять 25, отказала помпа, якорная вахта/владелец произвëл не те манипуляции, ну и.... Кирдык. Человеческие особи не пострадали. Посейдон опять на дне. . Пы. Сы. S/Y of the day ⛵️ Today's sailing yacht of the day is the timeless S/Y Merrymaid (34m). Merrymaid, build by Camper and Nicholson, was launched in 1904 in Gosport. Like all yachts of this age, Merrymaid has had an illustrious and turbulent history. Her first few decades took in rig changes, several ownership changes, a stint in a Norwegian fjord during WW1, and plenty of racing and cruising. After WW2 and the removal of much of her lead keel, Merrymaid spent a few years laid up in the mud, sometimes used as a houseboat. Luckily in the early 2000s Merrymaid was relaunched, fully restored, and set off on a three year circumnavigation. Here you can see her sailing through the ice in Patagonia and rounding Cape Horn, which were only small parts of her amazing adventure. Merrymaid is now sitting in Mallorca and up for sale again - I sincerely hope she is snapped up quickly by someone who will take her racing again, or cruising to some exotic locations! The gaff rig and the opulent interior of Merrymaid (including a fireplace!) hark back to more opulent times. The ARC Europe office opened on a lovely sunny day in St Maarten and jumped into action with 17 boats already in IGY Simpson Bay Marina and coming in to meet the Yellow Shirt team. Monday evening saw participants meeting up for the first event on the programme at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club at the lagoon entrance for Welcome Drinks, kicking off the 8-week programme of events. Drinks and delicious canapes were served under a canopy of hundreds of burgees from all over the world and a good time was had by all.
