Die Errungenschaften von der Montanunion bis zur EU mit diversen Erweiterungen und Integration sei nicht umsonst mit dem Friedensnobelpreis ausgezeichnet und nach den Worten von Barak Obama „never take it for guranted!“ warnt er vor innerer Spaltung und äußeren Störungen. Die Geschlossenheit während der jüngsten Krisen zeigt, dass Europa funktioniert und man die Herausforderungen: Sicherheitspolitik, Bürokratieabbau, Wettbewerbsfähigeit und nachaltige Transformation nun weiter angehen muss.
