PIGEONS Once worshipped and helped solve the human wars - pigeons were the birds we used to look up to. Today we look down on them - call them rats with wings, blame them for our own dirtiness and diseases. Everybody kinda hates the lovebirds nowadays. Remember last week when I talked about loving those days when I push hard – like really hard – to discover how much I can accomplish? Those days when I leave nothing on the table and slide into bed exhausted? I love those days. But. When I stack those days one on top of another and fail to take the time and space I need to recover, well, that’s when I get into trouble. That’s when the work isn’t the quality I strive for, that’s when my patience – and my happiness – begins to wane. The secret, of course, is recognizing what I need to do to recover and perform at my best, both from a work and personal standpoint, and then take the time to actually do those things.
