🍿 MOVIE 🍿 Raising Caïn By Brian de Palma (1992) On Filmo tv My advice: 🎬🎬🎬🎬 I am always fascinated by the subject of dissociative identity disorder and multiple personalities. There are plenty of movies (split, images, fight club, psycho ....) about it and if it is treated correctly the movies are great . Here, due to the nice play of John Lithgow, it is quite good and I enjoyed it very much . Carter Nix is a renowned psychologist for children. He has shown signs of instability but he completely breaks up when he learns his wife Jenny is cheating on him. This break up generated the rise of multiple personalities: among them a ruthless thug and a frightened little boy. Since then , Nix's descent into hell implies revenge, murder and kidnappings ..... I liked that De Palma is sowing references to his other movies here (notably dress to kill) . The end plan is the most jubilant ever. I really enjoyed it from the beginning to the end . My favorite scene with the end was probably the interview with the doctor as you can see the personalities of Nix being released .I will repeat myself but Lithgow's performance was amazing. The staging is clearly the master asset even though the scenario is a bit confusing sometimes but it never prevents you from following the story correctly. The highlight was the bread, which is stunning, crispy and soft 🤩 However, the chicken was bland and not as crunchy as you’d except. The sauce is good, but overhyped! Tastes like bossman’s burger sauce but with lots of pepper. Can’t complain about the chips, but the coleslaw was SWEET, which was off putting!! Overall, a low 6/10.
