Where was the hype for this one! May 11, 2024: between 2-4 am, it was incredible to see the solar storm/northern lights in southern Ontario! Lights, camera, northern lights action! What a show Mother Nature put on tonight. 1. 10:24pm, 40 min timelapse 2. 11:18pm, 2h 10m timelapse 3 & 4. 10:18pm. Definitely couldn’t make out this level of detail with my eyes (and might not make out any details at all tomorrow if I don’t get to sleep I set an alarm to wake up to get my phone from outside). So beautiful. Reading the science behind it, the auroras were caused by a severe geomagnetic storm during which “three separate coronal mass ejections (CMEs) merging into one as they approach Earth.
