Lake Angeles, you take my breath away! Quite literally, cuz DAMN that's a gnarly hike! 😆 I've been here once before, 2 years ago. With the weather being a little dicey today, I chose to do this instead of Pyramid Peak, since Lake Angeles wouldn't have any views obstructed by clouds. I was not disappointed! This was so beautiful 😍 Last time I went was in the summer and I swam out to the little island in the middle. 2 years ago, I could barely get down the mountain, because my knee was bothering me... and my hips. It was super painful. This time, I had no issues! My body is used to this kind of stuff now, I guess. (Except for my feet- my hiking boots aren't working for me, so I'm still healing from all the blisters and forming callouses.... They're GROSS and I need a pedicure 🤣) I also took a picture of a super sweet German couple and we chatted for a few minutes. I mostly tried to convince them to do Pyramid Peak instead of Storm King lol. Day 4- today was wild. I hiked hurricane hill in Olympic. The road to get to the trailhead was also covered in snow so I had to hike the road too. There have been many changes for me in the last few months , some I would have never guessed or thought of for myself. Some harder than others. Some days I question my sanity😵💫 but I am so proud of and grateful for those who have become my everyday humans. Geraniums, 6x6 oil on birch panel. 2024. This scene from Crescent Lake in the Olympic National Park brings back memories of our time visiting family in the Seattle area a couple of years ago. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and being back among the giant trees and vast landscapes made me feel nostalgic. I loved this corner of the lodge, with the intense blue of the lake set against the vibrant green of the sunlit tree. These rattan chairs made me want to sit down, drink a cup of coffee, and take in the view without worrying about things to do or places to be. Summer is coming, and my new town actually becomes busier during the summer season. I'm excited to get out into the sun and to see those who arrive for the sunny months. I will, however, have to be intentional about carving out quiet moments like this one. Whatever comes, it's a menu of wonderful options.
