Making this fun piece was a bit of a life lesson for me. You see, I found this marble but it wasn’t perfect, it seemed one side broke and now it laid flat. I was disappointed. Then, I looked at it again and realized, it WAS perfect. Sometimes, all you need is a different perspective. This imperfect marble is now a beautiful balloon given as a token of love. Porthleven is their happy place and so she wanted something that would remind him of their happy holidays. My brief was The Ship Inn, the clock tower and a pasty! "Love is what happens when two people find their happy place right beside each other" ❤ Being asked to make such special cards for people fills my heart with joy! This first anniversary card was made for an Auntie to give to her niece recently. The happy couple got married in Ibiza so she wanted that to feature, and sent me a picture of their beautiful wedding arch (see last picture). With some artistic flare I recreated the pampas grass with delicate pencil shavings and added in some tiny shells that I had. The bride and groom are made using a pebble and seaglass. I am definately one of those people that lacks in the confidence to change circumstances. 😮 Trees offer a perfect example of living, growing, changing, and gracefully accepting their fate. 🌱 However, as humans, if we're unhappy do we truly have the luxury of sitting idly, living a life filled with regrets, constant complaints about our present, and lingering unhappiness with our circumstances? Remembering those special days 👰🤵. It's certainly wedding and anniversary season for card and picture making. These anniversary cards were a delight to make for a lovely couple who got married in Cornwall last year. They visited my market stall in @theshipyardmarket on their honeymoon and bought one of my 🐳 pictures. I have since been asked to make some wedding cards, and was delighted to be asked to make their son's wedding card a few months ago. 🕊❤ So when Steph messaged me and asked if I could make an anniversary card for her husband Bill of course I say "yes"! 😊 It was a bit of a challenge as she wanted the map of Cornwall marking Porthleven, with the flower towers that they had at their wedding, along with a seaglass heart somewhere. Initially I thought, how am I going to fit that all in but that's just my imposter voice, so I shut that down and set about making her card. I added in a bride and groom as I thought it finished it off perfectly. 👰🤵 THEN, Bill messages me and asks if I can do the same for Steph, sent me the same photo and asked for more or less the same card (without the map fortunately 🙈😂). How funny - but just goes to show that great minds think alike ❤. Happy to say the couple enjoyed a lovely 1st Wedding anniversary yesterday and we're both delighted with their cards. I found this gorgeous blue framed mirror @doreshillfarmemporium and I just knew I needed to seacycle it. I matched the blue frame with some plain blue sea pottery for the waves and added a sea pottery boat. D e C i S i O n S Today's #marchmeetthemaker prompt is probably the hardest for me, even deciding what to post was a dilemma. I'm such an incredible over-thinker and a worrier that it takes me such a long time to come to a decision. 🙈😂 But the reality for most things is that if you decide to do something and it doesn't work out then you just change it. ❤UPDATED❤ And nothing could be further from the truth with this post...if you read my next post you'll see why I've had to update this! 🙈😂 One decision I have made recently is to open a shop with @buyindie. If you haven't found them yet they are a UK marketplace for independent handmade sellers, they don't charge commission so unlike Etsy you don't get charged fees upon fees upon fees. 🥰 I'm still very slowly building up my shop and one thing you will find on there is my new collection of hanging #corkstars made with #genuineseaglass. I haven't worked with cork before but the reason I chose cork is because it is a great sustainable material. The cork tree can live between 100 and 300 years, each time its harvested the bark regenerates, and it biodegrades completely and can be recycled without any toxic residues. My latest commission ‘Whale Shark’ Nearly all the items on the sea floor where provided by my client and I was given the challenge to use them.
