I have started offering quick sessions at the Nursing Homes that cared so beautifully for my Grandmothers, at Mother's Day and Father's Day, for the families of residents to capture memories with their loved ones that might be harder to get out and about for a normal session. This year I was lucky enough to meet Leanne and her Mum, Maree, on the way to our under 7s soccer game yesterday! This is my mum, Dianne! Today is the first Mother’s Day in a very long time - like well over 10 years - that we have spent the day together. Being on opposite ends of Australia doesn’t make it easy to celebrate this day together 😢 A few weeks ago my step-dad had major hip replacement surgery. My mum was not in a good place and it was a no brainer to fly over and help. ✈️ On a positive note, Mother’s Day just happened to be around when I was visiting her. In the past few weeks I have: - mowed lawns - cooked - cleaned - decluttered and made some $$ on FB marketplace - driven to a lot of hospital appointments - worked - and just been there for whatever my family needed! Even though we have only spent half the day together today - I know the time we have spent in the last 2.5 weeks outweighs the day itself today. Have I missed my son today, absolutely!! But today has been about my mum, and how much I love her. ❤️ She needed this day for me to be here with her. I needed these last 2.5 weeks. No fancy present can ever takeaway the warmth and love you feel when you just hug your mum and tell her “I love you.” I love you so much mum. 🥰 Now I get to fly home and enjoy Mother’s Day as a mum.
