David Pritchard (born March 3, 1949) is an American acoustic, classical, and jazz guitarist. Pritchard began studying classical guitar at the age of 12 but as a teenager his interest turned to jazz. As a high school student, he founded the jazz-rock group Quintet de Sade and at the age of 20 he joined the Gary Burton Quartet, replacing guitarist Jerry Hahn. In 1970, he co-founded, along with pianist/composer Pete Robinson, the jazz-fusion group Contraband. Several years followed where he freelanced in the Los Angeles area while also teaching at the Dick Grove School of Music. Robert Plant fanboying over Joni Mitchell (part 2) >>Hammer of the God's:Page 225: "In interviews that year [Plant and Page] spoke incessantly of their deep love for Joni Mitchell and her then-current record Court and Spark." Page 246: "Later Jimmy was aglow because he had been introduced to Joni Mitchell at a restaurant called the Greenhouse. It was just small talk, but Jimmy had at last met one of his true idols. Later Robert passed up an opportunity to meet La Mitchell at a party, saying he was too shy to talk to her." Joni has nothing to say about that, but a few days later I mention it to her husband Larry, and he says, "I can believe that completely. Robert Plant came over to the house one day when we were in Britain to talk about some unfinished songs I had. He was really looking for songs at that time. We were talking about possibly writing together, so I played him some stuff. Then afterward Joni played him two of the first songs she had written for the record, 'Secret Place' and 'Number One.' She sang them for Robert with just an acoustic guitar. You could have touched him and he would've tipped over. He was reverent. After she left the room he said, 'Tell her that a man should sing that second song' - 'Number One.' He wanted the song! He's a rabid fan of hers. "Not only did he not get that song, but two instrumentals Klein wrote for Plant were hijacked by Mitchell and turned into "Snakes and Ladders" and her lament for native Americans, "Lakota." アコースティックな感じが心に沁みる春のオススメ作品…でもCDでしか発売されてなくて、アナログないんだよなあ、なんとかなりませんか？レコード会社の方！！シリーズ3/3、最終回。 トレイシー・チャップマンの2008年の8thアルバム「Our Bright Future」。 ワタシタチノ カガヤケル ミライ 鋭い方はお気付きと思いますが、今回のシリーズ3枚は、2008〜09年に集中してます。 特に意識しないで、パパっと選んだのですが… 2008〜09年は、なんかわかりませんが、心に沁みる春の名盤が多いみたいですね。 さて、この作品は、"隠れ名盤"なんてナマやさしいものではなく、ハッキリ言って遥か宇宙の果てまでぶっ飛んで行っちゃいますよ。 っていうか、聴いてる方はとっくにぶっ飛んで宇宙の果てまでいっちゃってますよね? キコエマスカ〜？ トレイシーというと、ファースト・アルバムがあまりにも有名で、アコースティック、フォーク好きな方は99.9%聴いてるはず。 でもでも、あまりにもファースト・アルバムが良すぎたせいで、 セカンドは、ん？なんか違う？ サード→ん〜、まあいいか なんつって、いつしか離れちゃってる方が99.9%って感じじゃないですかね（主観）。 もし「トレイシーのファーストはやっぱ沁みるよなあ」なんて思ってる方で、あろうことか、「このアルバム？こんなのあった？」なんて方は、今すぐAmazonでポチってください！ はやく！さあ！ と言いたいところですが、廃盤、人気薄、隠れ名盤の三拍子が揃っちゃってて、現在けっこう入手困難&高騰中😓 しょうがないので、サブスクで聴いてください。 え？こんな名盤あったの！ しかも、これを最後にアルバム出してなくて、今のところこれが最新作？ むきーーーーっ！ なんで買っておかなかったんだろう！ おれ（わたし）のバカバカバカ！ いやーん、もう、ってなりますよ、絶対。 ワン、トゥー…ワン、トゥー、スリー、フォーの優しい声のカウントのあと、鳴り始めるアコギの音色のなんとふくよかなことよ！ そして、すぐそこで歌ってるような、やたらデッドな声。 控えめだけど、エッヂの効いた演奏。 優しく包み込むようなミキシング。 ああ。もう永遠に浸っていたいよ〜 な世界が、これでもか！おら！おら！と繰り広げられます。 トレイシーはこのアルバムまでコンスタントに良作を出し続けましたが、このアルバムを最後に（引退したわけでもないのに）作品は発表してません。 病気でもないようですし、突然の隠居状態の理由はよくわかりません。 2020年、米大統領選関連のTVで「Talkin' 'bout a Revolution」を歌ったそうですが、露出そのものが極端に少ない状態が10年以上続いてます。 去る３月30日でちょうど60歳。 また、新作でワタシのようなコアなファンを喜ばせてくれませんかね〜 マッテマス😘 あ、書き忘れた。 このアルバム、優しく、ひたすら穏やかに展開するのですが… ラストの「Spring」。 タイトルからの想像を裏切られるマイナーフォーク調。 この歌って、あのウキウキの春について歌った歌なの？ ひょっとしてバネ（スプリング）の歌？ なんて軽く混乱しちゃいますが、どうやら春のことを歌ってるようです。 違ったら教えてください。 この歌を聴くと、春がただウキウキなだけでなく、より大切で愛おしいものに思えます。 何言ってんだかよくわからないですが、春のオススメCDシリーズ、これにておしまい。 次は初夏に「初夏のCDシリーズ」でまた会いましょう👋 適した時間帯：晩冬または早春の午後 聴くシチュエーション：岐路に立った時など ★開店まであと477日 Our Bright Future is the eighth and most recent studio album by American singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, released on November 11, 2008. Freddie sits a high top of my musical heroes. I always toss between Freddie Hubbard, Donald Byrd, or Miles Davis as my top 3 trumpet players. Freddie's music and trumpet tone always resonates the right notes and groove for me. Why am I posting these albums together. Is that they belong together. Freddie Hubbard - Keystone Bop 1982 Fantasy, Japan Freddie Hubbard - A Little Night Music 1983 Fantasy, US So these 2 albums were both taken from Live performances at Keystone Korner, San Francisco. It was across 2 nights from Fri 27 Nov, and Sun 29 Nov, 1981. But was released separately. There are 2 CD releases, that actually cover these nights as well - Freddie Hubbard - Keystone Bop: Sunday Night (1994) - Freddie Hubbard - Keystone Bop: Vol.2 Friday/Saturday (1996) The artists here know who they are and are at their mature musical peak. The Jazz is exceptional. It is textured and layered and takes you for a great ride. It has such great Live versions of 'Sky Dive', 'The Intrepid Fox' from Freddie's CTi albums as well. These Live albums are smokin' with this killer cast. THOMAS DYBDAHL | Teenage Astronauts | 2024 ▶️ bit.ly/3Pp8akV (full album) Produced by Larry Klein Arranged by Vince Mendoza Soon after Edie Kuhnle Ottestad moved to the Southwest coast of Norway in Stavanger with her family in 2018, she reconnected with longtime collaborator singer and songwriter Thomas Dybdahl, who wanted to explore an album centered around male friendships. At the time, Ottestad’s son, who was in the eighth grade, was experiencing an episode of depression, and her father-in-law was coming to the end of his life. As she witnessed these opposite ends of emotion from the men in her life Ottestad connected to Dybdahl’s initial narrative, and helped add more depth to the stories on his tenth album Teenage Astronauts. “Between my son’s adolescent confusion and my father-in-law reminiscing and sharing stories about his boyhood,” shared Ottestad in a statement, “I approached this project as a way to process the major male milestones that I was witnessing and experiencing alongside two people I dearly loved.” For Dybdahl, Teenage Astronauts started with studio conversations around friendships and growing up, apart, and his relationship with his teenage son. “I’ve written my fair share of songs about breakups and relationships over the years,” said Dybdahl. “It’s usually these stories that get my creative process going, but thinking back on my youth, it dawned on me that my first heartbreak wasn’t caused by a breakup but by my best friend suddenly getting a girlfriend. I felt like I was going to die; that’s how crushed I was.” Dybdahl continued, “The people I navigated my youth with were the most important thing in the world to me. We felt like explorers, sometimes immortal, sometimes like snowflakes. Some friendships faded away, some ended in tears, and some have lasted into adulthood. Freddie Hubbard - Born To Be Blue 1982 Pablo, US in translucent red Freddie transitions his sound again back to the purer bop jazz roots with Pablo label after his run with CTi and Columbia. Freddie finally gets to record his wonderful song 'Gibraltar' in a studio album for himself. Which is such a great jam track here. A joy of an album and quite the sound mastering cut. But seriously, the album design, and the Phil Stern photo did such an average job, and a disservice for album cover and the artists here. It is her 18th studio album and is the follow-up to 2000's Both Sides Now which had a similar format. Upon release Mitchell announced that it would be her last album, but later recorded one further studio album, Shine. Vince Mendoza composed the orchestral arrangements. Happy 80th Birthday Joni! Turbulent Indigo is the 15th album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. Released in 1994, it won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Album. John Milward, writing for Rolling Stone, wrote that it was Mitchell's "best album since the mid-'70s". The album takes inspiration from the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh for Mitchell's self-portrait on the cover. The song "Turbulent Indigo" references van Gogh, while describing the mental turmoil both he and Mitchell face in the creative process. Mitchell goes on to outline irrational feelings of intense rage and jealousy in the track "Borderline". The song "Not to Blame" was rumored to be about Mitchell's fellow singer-songwriter and former lover Jackson Browne, who was alleged to have beaten his girlfriend, actress Daryl Hannah. Mitchell also takes in non-personal issues, notably in the song "Magdalene Laundries", which recounts the sufferings of Irish women once consigned to Magdalen Asylums run by the Roman Catholic Church and made to work in the asylums' laundries. Happy 80th Birthday Joni! Dog Eat Dog is the 12th studio album by the Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released in 1985. It was her second album for Geffen Records. As with its predecessor Wild Things Run Fast, Dog Eat Dog moves away from Mitchell's previous folk and jazz influences in favour of 1980s studio pop. The album was a particular departure for Mitchell due to its highly synthetic sound – it was the first (and one of the few albums) on which she plays no guitar and on which she focuses entirely on keyboards (mostly synthesizers and the Fairlight CMI sampler). Dog Eat Dog also featured an expanded role for Mitchell's bass-playing husband Larry Klein, who not only co-produced and played keyboards, but played a significant part in shaping the album's technological pop sound and also wrote the music for two of the songs. All guitars were played by session musician Michael Landau, using an electric/textural approach very different from Mitchell's own. Her first of four releases for Geffen Records, it was released in 1982 and represents her departure from jazz to a more 1980s pop sound. This was her first album to work with bassist Larry Klein, whom she married in 1982. Klein would play bass on and co-produce her next four albums. Mitchell claimed that her inspiration for the album came from hearing the music of popular bands such as Steely Dan, Talking Heads and The Police at a discothèque during a trip to the Caribbean in 1981.
