Today’s Scripture “While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” Luke 15:20, NIV Running, Not Walking Eaen, the father in this parable represents our Heavenly Father and His heart of compassion toward us when we’ve sinned and gotten off course. Notice in today’s Scripture that when the prodigal returned to his father, the father came running to hug him. The only place in the Bible where it pictures God running is to this young man who’s dirty with hog manure and mud. God could have come running to heal the lepers, to teach in the synagogue, to the religious leaders, but instead He came running to someone who had made mistakes. The enemy has worked overtime to convince us that God is not for us. What would happen if we believed that God will always gladly welcome us? How much better would we live? How much freer, more secure, more at peace would we be if we were confident that God is for us, that even when we make mistakes, He’s waiting with arms held open wide, ready to restore us and get us back on track? Psalm 4:7, ESV Joy in the Journey Eaen, too often we’re going to enjoy life when we accomplish a goal, when the kids are raised, when our spouse changes, when we get the promotion. Our joy is always in the future, when we cross another finish line, so we’re always rushing to the next thing. The problem is there’s always something that keeps us upset. The enemy would love to deceive us into enduring life but not enjoying life. Having children but not enjoying them. Being married but unhappy about our spouse’s flaws. Having a house, a job, and opportunities, but always having some reason we’re not happy. The key is to find joy in the journey. You’re not there yet, you’re still waiting for things to improve, still believing for that promise, but in the meantime you’re enjoying where you are while you’re on the way to where you’re going. You can do that because the Scripture says that the joy of the Lord, the joy He puts in your heart, is your strength. Please do something.” That prayer needs to go to Urgent Care; that prayer is on its last leg. Is Your Soul Healthy? Eaen, ninety percent of all visits to a primary care physician are stress-related. We don’t realize how much our emotions, attitudes, and thoughts affect us physically. Today’s Scripture implies that if our soul is unhealthy, it will spill over into our physical health. If you’re living worried, bitter, guilty, and angry, those negative emotions and that negative energy poison your soul and weaken your immune system’s ability to fight off sickness. You lie in bed worrying about your finances all night, can’t sleep, then wonder why you have no energy, your blood pressure is high, and you have constant headaches. It might be related to bitterness over what someone did years ago. You can’t take in toxins and not be poisoned. If you get your soul healthy, many of the physical ailments will go away. Today’s Scripture “When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2, NLT Fire Eaen, California’s magnificent sequoia trees can stand over three hundred feet tall and live over two thousand years. What’s significant is that the sequoia cones are full of seeds that are locked up inside. Fire dries out the cones, enabling them to crack open and deposit their seeds on the forest floor. Then the seeds are able to germinate and become what they were created to be. The fire is necessary for new growth. In a similar way, there are seeds that are locked up in you—seeds of favor, greatness, and purpose. The only way they’ll come out is through fire—the business slows, a friend walks away, the medical report isn’t good. It’s easy to get discouraged, but God won’t allow a difficulty unless He has a purpose for it. Today’s Scripture Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6–7, NIV Your Mind Is the Bull’s-eye Eaen, no matter how long you walk in the faith, you’ll never get to the place where negative, discouraging thoughts don’t come. “You’ll never recover your health, never pay off your house, never see that relationship restored.” The enemy’s main tools are deception and lies, and your mind is the bull’s-eye of his target. If he can control your thinking, he can control your life. You can’t stop negative thoughts from coming, but you don’t have to keep thinking about them. That’s why the Scripture tells us to guard our minds, to be selective in what we allow in. If the thought is negative, discouraging, and brings in worry or fear, don’t let it in. Don’t dwell on it. Too often we just allow these negative thoughts access and go around worried, discouraged, and intimidated. Start paying attention to what you’re dwelling on. Ask yourself, where is this thought coming from? If it’s not positive, hopeful, and encouraging, it’s not from God. That’s the enemy trying to plant negative seeds. Even though it never rained here, the prophet Elisha told them to dig ditches and God would supernaturally bring them water. In spite of thoughts telling them it was a waste of time, they started digging, and the next morning water flowed into the valley and filled their ditches. Sometimes God will ask you to do things you don’t understand, something out of the ordinary. Don’t talk yourself out of it. Dare to trust Him and do what He asks. You have to stir up your faith. Don’t dig just one little ditch. Get a bulldozer and dig some big ditches. If you do what He’s asking, you’ll see water without rain—increase and abundance like you’ve never seen. I received news that troubled my spirit this past week. I took the situation to my God. I was comforted knowing that I have a God who is bigger than all my problems . Eaen, When you study the lives of the heroes of the faith, you see that twists and turns, delays, detours, and disappointments were the norm. So, are you frustrated because you don’t understand something that’s happened to you, upset over a bad break, worried because of a delay? How do you know it’s not the hand of God leading you to your throne? How do you know that you’re not a Joseph or a David? How do you know that you’re not right on course, right on schedule, to see what God promised you? It may not happen like you think. God uses difficulties to position us for destiny. What you’re upset about is a necessary step. That closed door or delay is instrumental in you reaching your purpose. Don’t try to understand everything that happens along the way. And bring out the best shoes you can find for my son.’” Luke 15:22, TPT Fully Restored Eaen, if you’re familiar with the parable of the prodigal son, you know this young man had wasted all his father’s inheritance on partying and returned home dirty, broken, desperate, and feeling worthless. But when the father, who represents God, saw his son, he ran to him and embraced him. He immediately fully restored his son with the best robe, the family ring, and new shoes. Seeing him, no one would have believed he had made such poor decisions and ended up eating with hogs. The parable shows that when God restores us, we come out fully restored, full of joy, with gifts coming out, healthy, blessed, and prosperous. Get rid of the lie that says, “You’ll always be at a disadvantage. Today's Scripture The LORD caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the Israelites, and they gave the Israelites whatever they asked for. So they stripped the Egyptians of their wealth!
