Wilga Wind #2. Oil on canvas. 143cm x 83cm. . Wilga wind Wilga Downs is a property nestled 1200 meters above sea level in Norway, Central West New South Wales. It became a new home for my daughter and her mother, who sought a change of scenery from Kangaroo Point. During my visit to the property, on the final day, I found myself hanging sheets on the clothesline amidst strong winds. As I wrestled with the billowing fabric, a metaphor began to form in my mind: the sheet represented my daughter, and the wind, the circumstances pulling her away from me. With each attempt to secure the sheet with pegs, I grappled with the transient nature of our connection. Yet, as I finally managed to firmly fasten the sheet, I pondered the significance of the peg itself. A few “loves” on the Hills Hoist. Mine is number 26 out of 70 made to commemorate 70 years. I was at a function where it was being raffled off via a business card. I just knew I’d win as I’d always wanted one. But I didn’t and a man won it, I asked if his wife would want it, he said he didn’t have a wife, I asked if I could buy it from him, he said you really must want it. I said yes!!! He said I’ll put it on EBay. The representative of Hills Hoist got wind of me begging this man and he took my husbands business card and the next day one was delivered to his work. Exciting to share that our Cambridge Street Reserve Expansion is down for the @aila.victoria Parks and Open Space awards being announced on June 5th! Cambridge Street Expansion Project is a small park in Collingwood – a suburb increasing in density and with limited open space. The Project included the road closure of Cambridge St and extension of the park into the street, increasing the parks size from 850sqm to 2008sqm. Referencing the area’s history as a wool stock yard, and later as a textiles district, Urban Initiatives collaborated with artist and sculptor William Eicholtz ( @dishboydreaming ). My nighties and pyjama tops are finished. Yes!!! the nighties got pockets 🩷💛 The pj tops didn’t get buttons or buttonholes. They are just meant to be a jacket. With a little sunshine in my pocket I got my mess cleaned up. I got backings joined and pressed as well as the quilt tops for next week. Another client called in and dropped hers off and chose the thread colour and pantograph. The Mr got the washing done. ‘Josh,’published by Allen & Unwin in 1997 and awarded as a CBCA Honour Book. There were 3 other Josh books to follow. The first two pictures are from Josh, the next from Josh and the Ducks and two from Josh and Thumper. The two ducks and the rabbit briefly lived with us for a short time. The rabbit used to watch TV with us and would thump the floor loudly if the program wasn’t to his liking. I wonder how many Hills Hoists there are in Australia now.
