Tardé casi treinta años en darle un chance a #StarshipTroopers (1997) ¡Y que error! ¡Me ha gustado mucho! Una mezcla deliciosa de #comedianegra, #gore, #cienciaficción, #sátira militar colonialista y romance adolescente. No tenía idea que esta película reunía después de 10 años a los creadores de #Robocop, el guionista #EdwardNeumeier y el director #PaulVerhoeven. Ya solo por eso vale la pena. El cuento es muy simple y está basado en una novela fascistoide de #RobertAHeinlein publicada en 1959. Un grupo de jóvenes se enrola en la academia militar espacial para invadir un planeta habitado por #insectos gigantes e inteligentes al que la tierra le ha declarado la guerra. Los chicos buscan la gloria, el romance y llenar su ego, tal como lo hacen los protagonistas de “Sin Novedad en el Frente (All Quiet in the Western Front)”, en parte porque han sido manipulados por las campañas publicitarias oficiales, pero pronto descubrirán que la guerra y el campo de batalla están lejos de los heroicos retratos que los comerciales muestran. Al momento de su estreno la gente no entendió el chiste. La peli fue golpeada por la crítica y el público le dio la espalda. El elenco era de cartón. #CasperVanDien, #NeilPatrickHarris, #MichaelIronside (El mejor), #DinaMeyer y #DeniseRichards. Los efectos especiales eran espectaculares en la época y aún hoy se sostienen muchos de ellos. Pero donde realmente brilla esta cinta es en la sátira de las campañas mediáticas militares, los noticieros y en los aciertos de los avances tecnológicos y sociedades futuras, a medio camino entre lo distócico y lo paródico. En este mundo la televisión es interactiva (tal como es hoy en día), la igualdad de género finalmente se ha conseguido y tanto hombres como mujeres comparten roles y baños; y los latinos finalmente dominamos el mundo. Das Gerüst zu ›USA 2088‹ steht seit langem und immer wieder mache ich Vorbereitungsarbeiten. Einige Kapitel und sogar der Epilog sind bereits geschrieben - wie es ausgeht verrate ich natürlich nicht und auch nicht wer in den Kochtopf kommt. Sind von 2085 mehr als genug übrig. Den geplanten Inhalt habe ich in den letzeten Tagen verfeinert und in schreibarer Buchform strukturiert. Ich weiß, ihr wartet schon wieder viel zu lange. Realistisch, dass es fertig zu lesen ist, mit allen Verlagsarbeiten, wäre nicht vor nächsten Frühjahr - aber ich bin dran, euren Hunger zu stillen. P.S.
