For my appetizer, I decided to just go w/ Chicharron con Yuca & i ordered a side of guacamole, which everything came out looking great and tasted delicious. The yuca fries were cooked perfectly and had a nice seasoning on them & went really well with the salsa rosada sauce & that Chicharron dipped in their freshly made guacamole was DELICIOUS. I had the mango drink as well, and that tasted so good and refreshing. 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Threads, LinkedIn, texting, emails, messenger and countless other methods of communication - all on one little device. So many ways to connect and communicate yet it seems people are more disconnected than ever these days. Authentic has been replaced with automatic. Privacy has been replaced with instant access. And I learn more about “communication fatigue” as I experience it myself. Tired of endless avenues of contact that is often distracting and often inconvenient. I see people engrossed in whatever is on their phones, not looking at the actual world around them. People addicted to the endless scroll, to the point that it has actually become a crisis that requires helplines, advertisements on TV reaching out to people with social media addiction. Relationships fallen apart from lack of trust due to online interactions, people who are unable to function without a phone by their side for immediate gratification. I’ve had enough. I see these changes in the world and I don’t like what I see so I took action for my own personal benefit, changed settings on my phone and try to encourage others to give it a go as well. Quiet mode, phone down by a certain time each day, setting boundaries, deleting contacts on cell phone so I can keep texting to a bare minimum - and only maintain two social media accounts, one of which I use rarely anymore. And that’s enough. No-one needs access to everyone at every minute of every single day via multiple platforms or devices. Why sit and stare at a screen when there is a beautiful world out there to look at? A world that needs less technology and distractions, and more human connection and awareness of what’s most important. So do yourself a favor, think hard about what you use your phone for, why you use it and what you actually need it for and then take it from there.
