Hurtigruten opera in tutto il mondo con expeditions molto suggestive. In Norvegia il Costal Express è la crociera sul postale dei fiordi che da 125 anni collega i porti norvegesi da Bergen fino a Kirkenes ogni giorno e continua a trasportare merci e lettere, oltre che persone. Il viaggio intero da Bergen a Kirkenes e ritorno dura due settimane, vengono toccati moltissimi porti lungo il percorso, alcune soste sono brevi o addirittura notturne, altre sono più lunghe ed offrono la possibilità di scendere dalla nave e visitare la città. Hurtigruten organizza tantissime escursioni ed ogni giorno viene messo a disposizione il programma completo della giornata. Le navi sono grandi ed appena rinnovate, nella Nordkapp e nella Polarlys (le navi sui cui abbiamo viaggiato noi) ci sono 7 ponti. Al secondo la sauna, al terzo la reception e la lavanderia, al quarto ristorante e bistro, al quinto il walking deck, al sesto le due jacuzzi esterne e al settimo terrazza panoramica e sala lettura. Si può personalizzare il viaggio liberamente, compiere l'intera traversata andata e ritorno, oppure solo una tratta o ancora, come abbiamo fatto noi, navigare da Porto a Porto e decidere dove salire, dove scendere e quindi quanti giorni trascorrere in nave. Viaggiare con Hurtigruten non è economico e consiglio di prenotare su hurtigruten.no ( ed utilizzare Google translate) perché i prezzi sono inferiori rispetto all' identico sito ma in inglese, hurtigruten.com. Per quando riguarda il cibo non ci sono notizie più confortanti. Una pizza costa circa 20 euro, così come un hamburger... Noi abbiamo comperato il necessario prima di salire a bordo al supermercato e questo ci ha permesso di risparmiare parecchio. ICELAND and our favorite unnamed waterfall! 😂 We came across this incredible waterfall while traveling around Ring Road in Iceland. This waterfall was right off the road and didn't even have a name, just a number! We think there were too many waterfalls on the island so they stopped naming the "smaller" ones and just gave them numbers instead. 😂 Iceland is absolutely beautiful and is not overrated one bit. We know it's becoming very popular but it's for good reason! It's the most beautiful country we've ever visited! If you've been to Iceland, did you have a favorite site? Ups and downs. Another UNESCO visit, a really beautiful knights Templar town with an amazing Covent/castle. (€6 for a family ticket! Great value) It’s the last town and castle that the knights Templar built. So relived to have had a lovely day in the sun exploring the town after a bit of a crazy week. This week has involved: My phone breaking, me worrying that I had lost my recent photos etc The van not starting after we had driven to the highest peak in Portugal (2000m) The van over heating again! With the possibility of the head gasket gone. Fortunately I manage to copy my photos on to the cloud and buy a new iPhone 11 (totally blowing our budget!) and restore everything 😅 The van refusing to start at the top of the mountain was very worrying as it was a complete blizzard. I thought we were going to gave to stay the night. Anyway there was a commercial centre. So we ran through the blizzard to the shops. There were 3 floors: around 8 shops ALL selling cheese, cured meats, slippers and other general Portuguese tat, cockerels etc. Very odd. Apparently it’s a tradition to drive up and buy cheese. Tbh I wouldn’t bother. Especially in the weather we did. After our bemused shopping experience. We returned to the van which thankfully started. (See story for pictures) Also the van has hopefully been fixed and shouldn’t be over heating. For a cost of £40. It’s crazy how things go!!! “Let me tell you a whale tale about whales with tails.” - Exploramum. ▬▬▬ We’re so excited! Finally, we get to see 🐋 whales 🐳 in the open seas! ▬▬▬ Hervey Bay is known as one of the best destinations in Australia to see these beautiful creatures as they migrate from Antarctica to the north of Queensland and back again. And we were there just before the official opening of whale-watching season that starts next week. ▬▬▬ When we arrived at Fraser Street Hervey Bay Discovery Park the sign said ‘Book your whale-watching cruise here’, and we were excited! ▬▬▬ Thanks to WhaleSong Cruises, we were fortunate that they ran advance cruises before the season started. But the best bit - WE SAW WHALES!!!! ▬▬▬ Whales are really hard to photograph! I was always on the wrong side of the boat, or I’d spy one and as soon as I’d raised the camera he was under the water again - for up to ten minutes. Then I got a perfect shot and a lady stuck her elbow right in my lens! Once I’d spotted them they’d moved on to a completely different area.
