There is change...and then there is wishing there was change. It feels so different. I have no harsh judgements for those wish for the change that isn't there...been there... ::Easter:: I do Not celebrate Christian, American, or Hallmark holidays. I am a fully immersed eclectic Pagan Shaman Witch. Also...today is not a late Ostara! Ostara was on March 20th this year and is always ON or before or after March 21. Ostara is particularly the Spring Equinox when the day and night are in perfect Balance. Period. Today has ZERO connection to actual Ostara. The Springs Equinox is a specific timing in nature, period, that is all. Ostara is simply a reverence and celebration of that time and to any of your deities that you may follow. Yes many of the traditions of Easter were taken by those running the inquisition and burning times from the observation and celebration of the Spring Equinox. The reason for this is they thought they would get a better turn over of making people follow their god if they combined some things. Know their intentions were never constructive, positive, or kind. If you did not follow then you were t*rtured and most likely m*rdered and so were your friends and family. This is not a sweet, compromising combination situation. The change of the Gregorian calendar also shifted the times even more in some cases as this. That being said, celebrating Easter is celebrating the bastardization of stolen Pagan beliefs that are combined with Christian/Catholic beliefs, period. Again, this was done to further gate keep the education and knowledge of the non Christian people, to control and have power over others, to make excuses for t*rture, r*pe, and m*rder, and to steal knowledge and power. Nothing else. It is obviously ok if you chose to follow one or both or neither, my point here is for historical and factual understanding.
