June 13, 1995, #fearfactory released #Demanufacture through @roadrunnerrecords . I was 26 upon release. We started recording at #chicagotraxstudios in July of 1994. Due to the “issues” at that studio, we abandoned Chicago and holed up in Albany, NY until September for the open studio at #bearsvillestudios While we were at Bearsville, we “mingled” with @faithnomore and @bonjovi while they were there recording in the larger studios. Like usual everything was delayed. I had to fly to London in December to record the remaining vocals at the legendary #whitfieldstreetstudios. In February of ‘95 we mixed the album at #enterprise in #noho During this entire process I was speaking with #DaveMckean over the phone and by #fax developing the #iconic album cover. This album put us on the map of music history.

🕯️Today, we remember Meat Loaf. This photo taken outside the theater with Meat Loaf, his daughter Pearl with her husband, rhythm guitarist and co-founder of the band Anthrax - Scott Ian and their child, is shared by Pearl Aday. She says: "I was born just a handful of miles away in Kingston, NY. Mom and I lived in Woodstock. Mom worked at Bearsville Studios in the 70s, and Dad worked on the legendary Bat Out of Hell album here. They met at the end of 1978 and married three weeks later in the beginning of 1979 over on Mink Hollow at the home of Todd Rundgren. I was the flower girl. So much wild history for us here in Bearsville and in the town of Woodstock, NY. We love you, Dad." Michael Lee Aday better known as Meat Loaf, collaborated with producer/songwriter Jim Steinman and began production for Bat Out Of Hell in late 1975 at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, NY. The album went on to sell over 43 million copies worldwide and is one of the best-selling albums of all time. Part of the credit for the LP’s mega-success certainly belongs to Todd Rundgren. When Rundgren discovered that the deal with RCA did not actually exist, he went to Albert Grossman. Grossman offered to put it on his Bearsville label but needed more money. Rundgren had essentially paid for the album himself! One fond memory Rundgren has was Meat Loaf proposing to his wife. "We were up in Bearsville, there was a secretary at Bearsville Records, Leslie, and Meat Loaf kind of fell for her. She was a pretty girl, and he fell for her, and I remember when he kind of like did his first big move on her. We were in the Bear Cafe and he had a package that he had brought up from New York and presented it to her, and it was a whole giant salmon. And it was as if a bear had proposed to his mate. Instead of a ring, a salmon." 🎂 Happy Birthday, Dave Matthews! The band's first album for RCA was 1994's "Under the Table and Dreaming," and the second was 1996's "Crash." Both albums were produced by Grammy Award-winning music producer Steve Lillywhite, who oversaw numerous albums for artists such as Morrissey and U2, winning Grammys for Record of the Year for "Beautiful Day" and "Walk On" in consecutive years. He was with the Dave Matthews Band at Bearsville when they recorded. "All of 'Under the Table and Dreaming' and 'Crash' was recorded at Bearsville, although the mixing was done in New York (City). The band had made the booking before they had a producer, but it didn't stop Bearsville from becoming my favorite studio," Lillywhite says. "The atmosphere in the summer when we recorded was magical, and I think this magic was transferred to the music. I know we all loved the experience. In 1974 Felix Cavaliere released his first solo record self titled 'Felix Cavaliere' on Bearsville Records. She remained with the group for their first seven albums and left it to begin her solo career in 1993. After moving on from the success of 10,000 Maniacs, Natalie Merchant set up shop at Bearsville Studios, a short distance down Route 212 from downtown Woodstock, to record her debut solo album, “Tigerlily” which yielded three consecutive top-40 hits (“Carnival,” “Wonder,” “Jealousy”) and sold over 5 million copies. 🎂 Happy Birthday to Peter Tosh. Peter Tosh's Bush Doctor, his 3rd studio album, was released on Rolling Stones Records in 1978 and recorded at Bearsville Studios. The album features Mick Jagger as guest vocalist on one song, while Keith Richards plays guitar on two tracks. The rhythm section featured Sly and Robbie and Happy Traum on autoharp. In March 1978, The Rolling Stones finished recording and mixing Some Girls. Rehearsals for their first US tour in three years began close to two months later in the end of May. The band gathered at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock along with Peter Tosh and his band who would be opening for the Stones. The sound engineer then was Woodstock's very own Chris Anderson - a sound genius then and now. During the time the stones were in town rehearsing, they also did an impromptu show at the Joyous Lake in Woodstock where they threw a birthday party for Charlie. Were you here for that? For anyone, who lived through that time and was into the folkie scene this is a trip down memory lane. For folks who didn't, I recommend it as an introduction to a wonderful moment in American cultural history. There was hope, often kindness, and humor that did not depend on bodily functions or making a fool out of someone. For me the title song was "Wet Birds," which in a way became my life's mantra; its most telling characteristic is the good-natured humor.（Review on Amazon by N. "Give It Up" was Raitt's first album to reach the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart and is in Rollling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The album featured many guest musicians, most of which were from the area around Woodstock, New York. I always fantasize about coming across original Karen Dalton records in dusty antique stores where the owners have no idea what they have. But here in the real world, I’m more than happy with this 2010 reissue of In My Own Time by @lightintheatticrecords. Dalton’s emotional voice just wrings so much feeling out of every song; it’s almost like listening to Billie Holiday front a country blues band. Her cover of George Jones’ Take Me on side two is probably my favorite track, but Richard Manuel’s In A Station is a close second. Gov't Mule quickly became the band to see. One of the best jam bands on the planet, this was the power trio's debut album. Originally released 1995 on CD only, ℗ & © Relativity Recordings. This vinyl release, 2016, by Let Them Eat Vinyl, LETV419LP, is the albums second appearance on vinyl, the first being 2012 limited run. This is a nice sounding, gatefold, 180 gram audiophile pressing but the packaging is not on par with the sound quality. We found this great photo of George Harrison and David Boyle at Albert Grossman’s house in Woodstock. David Boyle, who learned the art of Japanese woodcarving while serving in the Korean War and described by Albert as “the best 18th century carpenter I know,” was an expert in wood and stone. David’s legacy is twofold—the impressive spiral staircases descending to the basement level and the huge beam in the lounge, which he hewed with an adze from a Catskill hemlock. In November of 1968, George Harrison and his wife, Pattie, came to Woodstock. We're so sorry to hear about the passing of Meat Loaf today. Michael Lee Aday better known as Meat Loaf collaborated with producer/songwriter Jim Steinman who had created a musical named Neverland, a futuristic rock version of Peter Pan. Meat Loaf, who was touring with Jim on the National Lampoon live show at the time, began collaborating with Jim on this album, which had yet to be named Bat Out Of Hell. Production for this album began in late 1975 at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, New York. Musicians on it included; Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg from Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Utopia’s Todd Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell, John “Willie” Wilcox, and Edgar Winter and Ellen Foley. Part of the credit for the LP’s mega-success certainly belongs to Todd Rundgren. When Rundgren discovered that the deal with RCA did not actually exist, he went to Albert Grossman. Grossman offered to put it on his Bearsville label but needed more money. Rundgren had essentially paid for the album himself! One fond memory Rundgren has was Meat Loaf proposing to his wife. "We were up in Bearsville, there was a secretary at Bearsville Records, Leslie, and Meat Loaf kind of fell for her. She was a pretty girl, and he fell for her, and I remember when he kind of like did his first big move on her. We were in the Bear Cafe and he had a package that he had brought up from New York and presented it to her, and it was a giant whole salmon. And it was as if a bear had proposed to his mate. Instead of a ring, a salmon." The album went on to sell over 43 million copies worldwide, and is one of the best selling albums of all time. John Simon is an important part of the Woodstock’s music history. He produced, arranged and played on many classic albums including The Band’s “Music from Big Pink”, “The Band”, and “The Last Waltz”, “Cheap Thrills” by Janis Joplin, “Bookends” by Simon & Garfunkel, and the debut albums of Leonard Cohen and Blood, Sweat & Tears, among others. He has also worked with Michael Franks, Taj Mahal, Dave Sanborn, Steve Forbert and Mama Cass and recorded 4 albums of his own songs. Through all that, jazz has been his life-long quest at the top of the mountain. For the past 15 years he has been playing weekly with his trio in nearby Ellenville, with drummer Jeff Siegel and Rich Syracuse playing bass. They may presently have the longest-running gig in the Hudson Valley. In 2018 he wrote “TRUTH, LIES & HEARSAY: A Memoir Of A Musical Life In And Out Of Rock And Roll”, available wherever fine literature is sold. For the past 19 years ‘Music From Ground Zero’ has performed in New York City on 9/11 to honor lost friends and fallen heroes. MFGZ consists of locals Eric Parker (drums), Mark Dann (bass), Jeff Schecter (keys), Vito Petroccitto (guitar/ mando) and The Wallace Family Singers on backing vocals. The amazing Jonathon Fritz from NYC (Ritchie Havens, Lionel Ritchie) is on lead guitar, Jeremey Slanksy on acoustic and Tim Tuttle (singer, songwriter) up front. The original songs were written in the aftermath of 9/11. MFGZ produced 2 CD’s that were shipped overseas to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and to HS music classes in an effort to bring them closer to Ground Zero. The music tells the the story of that tragic Tuesday morning from Tim’s personal experience nearly two decades ago and the healing that has taken so long. For the 20th Anniversary MFGZ comes to Woodstock and the Bearsville Theater to celebre the endless healing power of music.
