To think of the sleepless nights I have as a small content creator, worrying about the accuracy of my information and wording… I can’t imagine having such a VAST platform and making such a VAST mistake, and just doing nothing about it…shame on you @theviewabc. I also wish whoopi had addressed this publicly…sadly I still see her used as an example of “celebs with endometriosis”. STOP. Please stop. Because when you search Whoopi Goldberg on this matter…misinformation is still churned and learned. This information not only affirmed a dangerous myth about endometriosis being the endometrium elsewhere in the body, by definition, WHICH IS FALSE. But also gives the idea that it is not that serious and easily treated with antibiotics. Unfortunately also FALSE. Every now and then a study will come out that insinuates that endometriosis is bacterial. There is no evidence to directly support this, and it can wildly derail progress. Mistakes like the one made by Whoopi last year can linger with people who don’t know better (the majority) and potentially delay urgency in seeking care or prevents the knowledge needed to self advocate in medical situations. Not only that but many articles that were written and published about this ‘awareness’ and quoted the WRONG definition of endometriosis, and go on to horribly mix Whoopi’s experience of endometriTIS with dodgy facts about endometriOSIS. The damage was vast. I remember getting an apology from my mom. I hadn’t seen her for a while after she’d told me I couldn’t come to my Grans birthday because otherwise my brother wouldn’t come. Why? He’d said if I ever shared publicly about how he treated me, he’d never see me again. Why would I want to see a woman who picked sides, who wasn’t being a mother to both of us, who didn’t care about how I felt? Her apology continued in the same vein. She described how she missed me. How I was so great at empathy and she missed it. Because no one empathised like me. And she wishes I was around. The apology was about HER and her needs. There’s wasn’t awareness or care about me. She really needed my training on how to say sorry. I see so many screenshots of “apology” in groups for people who had abuse or neglect in childhood. I say “apology” in quotes, because there’s no genuine apology. The parent is often sharing how hurt they feel, how they miss their grandkids, how unfair the boundary is, how wrong the estranged daughter is, how they love them and how much they’ve done for them. I’m often dumbfounded that they think manipulation and guilt tripping is apology. It’s not. It’s a slimey way to gaslight someone and avoid all responsibility and amends. As a child, I apologised for everything. Why? I was blamed for everyone’s moods and upsets. They’d take their bad day out on me. So I learnt to be sweet, and overfunction to get scraps of love. In reality, it was actually me who needed the deep apology. I’d get into relationships where I wasn’t treated well, yet apologise to get them in a better mood. I had to grow my inner worth. I had to learn NOT to apologise, and how to apologise to myself. Someone had badly violated me. They scapegoated me. They took out their jealousy, lack of belief in themselves and self hate out on me… and then had the audacity to tell me to apologise. I finally had the gumption to say No. to stand up and not take shit. I had to learn to say eff off more than I’m sorry to others, instead of abandoning myself. Зачем вам врут? Однажды подняли эту тему с мужем, и услышала от него, что "все врут", и это нормально. Нужно принять это как должное. В моем мире люди не врут. В любом действии, а разговор это тоже действие, кроется какой-то мотив. Кто-то разговаривает с неприятным ему начальником, потому что от этого зависит, будет ли у него работа и доход, кто-то говорит неприятные слова в конфликте, чтобы показаться сильнее, и привлечь внимание, кто-то ругает ребенка, чтобы защитить от условной опасности... В каждом слове кроется смысл, и вербальный, и невербальный, потому что через слова мы передаем значения. Если человек врёт, он доносит другое значение, иногда абсолютно противоположное тому, как он видит ситуацию. Зачем? Чтобы спрятать то значение слов, которое может нести ему какую-то угрозу! Например, наказание родителей, одиночество, увольнение, позор и т.д. Мотивацией для лжи является страх! И хорошая новость в том, что если человек лжет именно вам, он показывает таким образом, что вы для него значимы, он боится что-то потерять, связанное с вами. Контакт, материальную выгоду, безопасность, одобрение, принятие, поддержку и т.д. Именно ваша реакция важна для него. Но соль в том, что если приходится вам врать, значит, эмоциональная близость явно под угрозой. Нет ощущения абсолютного принятия таким, какой он есть, с вашей стороны, от вас не ждут понимания, не чувствуют безопасно рядом с вами, и не доверяют. Человек подстраивается под вашу правильную картинку мира, хотя сам уже выбрал делать по-другому, или допустил ошибку, и осознает это. Как он себя чувствует в этой ситуации? Слабым, уязвимым, неуверенным, нелюбимым, непонятым и непринятым безусловно. А ещё и перманентно тревожным из-за страха, что ложь когда-то вскроется. По-моему, не самое выигрышное состояние... Так зачем врут люди? Получается, что ложью на самом деле скрываются от себя, и спасаются в ситуации, где чувствуют страх, и не видят другого выхода.
