I have been IG absent but have been reading just not posting. I am in a wierd slumpy mode and just haven’t been loving too many books. It’s not you, it’s me. 🤣 🎧I have been binging The Binds That Tie series on audio and I can’t quit it. It’s fantasy RH that I am totally rage finishing. 📗I just read Wilder Wedding a Wilder Brothers novella that’s out today. Fun, steamy, easy read for Amos, the winemaker and Naomi, the innkeeper. 📕The Serpent and the Wings of Night, it’s on KU and fantasy so it should be working for me but I have legit been reading this book for 2 weeks, I keep starting and putting it down. 📘Powerful, a novella from Lauren Robert in the Powerless trilogy and how much did it hate this. SOOOO Much. Powerless was a great book so I had high exceptions of this, even though it’s a novella and we know the fate of the main character, but this was not good. In my audio life I just listened to three Eden Finley Mike Bravo books back to back and I am not upset about it. Beth (@beths_booksandstuff ) has been telling me that I would like these for years and I finally listened to her— she was right. Mike Bravo is a group of LGBTQIA guys that have left the military and are now taking on private jobs that the government doesn’t want to do. The series is MM, military, romantic suspense, full of drama, snark and steam… I am enjoying it. Since I binged the first three, Iris, Rogue and Atlas, I will go back to listen to Eden Finley’s CU Hockey series! Powerless has been a #bookstadarling that I have avoided, even though it’s YA Fantasy which is apparently my jam right now. When I first started reading it I literally texted a friend saying —— “I READ THIS BOOK BEFORE IT’S CALLED THE HUNGER GAMES.” But I persevered and I am actually glad I did. Once I got over the Hunger Games vibes I was into it. The magic aspect, the brothers and the world building drew me in. The main characters of Prince Kai and Paedyn are enjoyable, the side characters of Kitt and Adeane (sp) and the Revolutionaries are intriguing. I think we all knew the secrets were going to come out at the end but one thing happened that left me shook. I have been in a weird reading mood - dare I say the S word….Slump…lately. Like I am just re-reading old favorites, DNF’ing popular books and only have the attention span of novellas. 🤦🏼‍♀️ But I have read three novellas in the past week so I am hoping to break this slump. 📕The Witch Queen of Halloween by Kresley Cole. I finished the Defy The Night series!!! YEAH!!! See my previous post on the Defy The Night series if you are doubting my YA Fantasy era! In book two, Defend The Dawn, our main characters were separated and I wondered how Brigid Kemmerer was going to get these guys all together. I really liked this final book! It wrapped up everyone’s storyline, it pulled on my heartstring and I had a tiny tear in my cold dry eyes. I don’t want to tell anyone what happened but there are so many parts that I really enjoyed. The MC’s weren’t together in most of the book - Corrick is with the mean pirate, Tessa is on the other island and Harristan is back in Kandala. I thought my romancing needing heart would need them to all be together but I was so invested in the characters having their side relationships. Lachlan and Cory ♥️, Tessa meeting new friends in Olive and Rocco and the political scheming was great. The real winning relationship for me was Quint and Harristan, their dynamic is perfect and I just love them. Last week I read #booksta darling Ninth House and liked it enough to move on to book two, Hell Bent. Ninth House was good, I was interested, the dark academia, the paranormal, the ghosts…etc, I liked it. But Hell Bent is my first DNF of the year. I tried to get people to tell me to keep going but 200 pages in and I give up. No-one had any good reasons to continue. I found I was just annoyed at the FMC Alex, the time jumping from the Summer after the previous book ended to the Fall when she is back at Yale was confusing and felt disjointed. This year I am determined to DNF more. In the past I have felt this responsibility to keep reading and finish the book, even if I didn’t like it. Now I want to spare myself from that torture and I am putting myself first. QOTD: What booksta favorite have you DNF’d recently?

I am going to Sweetgrass in Charleston on March 23rd… anyone else?? You know who IS going…Elle Kennedy! I haven’t read the Off-Campus series since they came out years ago and since I own the paperbacks why not re-read them. Last week while skiing I binged book one, The Deal, and book two, The Mistake. I have no regrets. The Deal is one of the original hockey romances I ever read and Garrett and Hannah (Wellsy) will always have a place in my cold stone heart. Sigh, John Logan groveling in The Mistake is just absolute perfection. I am halfway thru The Score, Dean and Allie’s book and determined to get to all of them by Sweetgrass. The entire Off-Campus series is on KU too as well as Garrett and Hannah’s daughter’s book, The Graham Effect, which I kicked my feet in joy reading! Are you going to Sweetgrass? Live, Love, Spy is book two in my all time favorite author, Lexi Blake’s Master and Mercenaries: New Recruits series and OMG how much did I LOVE it!!! SOOOO MUCH! If you aren’t caught up on the M&M Universe (the 25 OG books)- the New Recruits is a great place to start. You get some of the OG’s M&M characters but we are really getting to know this next generation and I am here for it! Louisa (Boomer and Daphne’s daughter) is a flat out genius that fell in love with TJ when she was a teenager now she’s working with the other younger spies on a secret CIA team. TJ is Theo and Erin’s son (yes that Theo who was brainwashed in Submission is Not Enough by the ultimate baddie, Hope McDonald, it might be one of my favorite M&M books ever!) and has been kidnapped. The team goes in to rescue him that leads to an even bigger cover up of who the latest arms dealer is. Live, Love, Spy has everything I want in a Lexi Blake M&M book - Ian snark, an almost danger bang in the most intense situation, suspense and all the steam. Lexi Blake is truly the master of balancing romantic suspense with BDSM, wonderfully developed characters and all the feelings. I am loving this next generation (Hi, SPOILERS kids!) and mixing them with the OG’s is perfect. The last chapter left me gasping and the next book can’t come fast enough. AHHH Last First Kiss has everything I love- British single dad, one night of passion turns into OMG we work together and the meddling Montgomery’s Carrie Ann Ryan is known for! Daisy, who we meet as a child in Fallen Ink, Adrienne Montgomery and Mace Knight’s friends to lovers book (if you haven’t read that one, I totally recommend it), is now running Montgomery Security with her cousins. Dashing British Hugh (as he will forever be known) has relocated to Colorado to spend more time with his adorable daughter, Lucy, and has taken a job at Montgomery Security. These two meet at a wedding, sparks fly all the way into a hotel room and what’s supposed to be a one night stand turns into OOPS we work together on Monday morning. Daisy is recovering from an explosion, dealing with the PTSD from that and how to move on when these pesky feelings for British Hugh creep up. It doesn’t help that his daughters Mommy origin story is very similar to Daisy’s so she can totally relate to the little girl. Dashing British Hugh is everything I want in a book boyfriend - willing to put his life on hold for his kid, ink, muscles, British accent and secure enough to let Daisy be the badass she is. As with the other Montgomery Ink Legacy books, this can be read as a standalone but I do think you will enjoy them a bit more if you have the backstory. I listened to this one with Shane East as Dashing British Hugh is fantastic and Kit Swann, totally recommend! Anyone else have all their library holds come in at once???? Me. Every Da&n TIME. I put things on hold thinking “I am number 765, it will take a while.” Then I forget completely about it. Surprise, Surprise here is every hold you’ve ever had. Sigh. Well, this is a gorgeous stack and you can sense a theme looking at some of the titles. Defy the Night, Defend the Dawn, Lightlark, Atlas Six, Atlas Paradox, Ninth House…. they are a whose who of popular fantasy reads of the past year. Yup, I am trying to catch up. Of course, I had to request totally hyped, Bride by Ali Hazelwood, and I have to be honest—I am probably going to spite read this one. I am one of the few people that didn’t like her first book (and yes, I didn’t read anymore) but will I like this one????? I will probably give it a few chapters, apparently there is kn8tting, but if I want that I will go to KU and get the dirtiest, smuttiest book to scratch that itch. In my YA Fantasy phase I read these two back to back, Defy the Night and Defend the Dawn, by Brigid Kemmerer. They are like Robin Hood with a pandemic, lots of action, lots of hidden identity and twists that kept me reading. The books center on a king trying to keep his kingdom together after the death of his parents with his brother acting as an enforcer, an illness sweeping the country and citizens revolting, it’s a lot going on. Book one, Defy the Night, I was hesitant to start but I am mad that I waited. I had a feeling who the hidden identity was and loved who it turned out to be. The slow burn (no steam) romance of Tessa and (a person I won’t name in case you read it) is perfectly balanced from friends to more (again it’s YA so no steam). Book two, Defend the Dawn, I enjoyed more than the first, I think because it mostly takes place on a ship. The two brothers are in separate places so we get to see the characters develop without their dependence on each other. At the center of the story is the bothers, yes there is some romance but really it’s the brothers and I like that! I have the third book on hold at the library and have been checking everyday to see when it will be available. The Atlas Six. I am not sure where to start. I went back and forth between the physical book and audio on this one, the audio has a full cast which made it really interesting. I can totally see why people like this one- dark academia, Hunger Games vibes and the different POV’s are well done. Basic plot is six magicians are invited to join a secret society that holds loads of world power, the twist being they must kill one of them. Interesting right!?? I totally thought so. I was super invested until something happened around page 220 that I left me confused. It’s a thr3esome. That’s what happened. A complete out of the blue MFF-some and you all know I love a good 🍆some but here it was weird. I persevered and the twists at the end were shocking so of course I got the second book. Just in case you thought this was a fantasy account, I gotta get my smut fix too! Last week that came in the package of two back to back QB Tyler books, The Season of Secrets and The Worst Kept Secret. Everyone on #booksta loves her for her age gap, taboo romances so it seemed time to read one. They filled the smut loving void I was looking for. First up was The Season of Secrets, super steamy, age gap, boss/employee book that was just what I was looking for. Wes is the perfect “boss falls first, touch her you die” hero with tats, glasses and silver temples! Then The Worst Kept Secret with best friends dad (Theo), age gap, forbidden, neighbors sneaking around was as steamy as I expected and wanted. At Readers on the River in September I grabbed the first book in perpetual favorite author Sawyer Bennett’s Jameson Security series Code Name: Genesis. Since then I have read with my eyeballs or listened with my earholes to the first four books…. And I have no regrets. The audio for book one is amazing - Shane East does the best job with Kynan’s accent and the book sets up all the others. I just listened to book four Code Name: Hacker and it’s a wild ride. Bebe Grimshaw spent seven years in jail for a crime she committed bur committed for the right reasons. Kynan worked a deal to get her out and now she’s the tech genius at Jameson Security. While at a park with her son, Griffin Moore befriends them. Turns out he’s been sent to kill her but he’s really undercover. These two have all the chemistry I expect from Sawyer Bennett and there is a lot of action. Bennett’s romantic suspense are full of twists and turns- this one is no exception. I have been waiting to get to Bebe’s book because she deserves the biggest HEA and she gets it! Plus tatted up, bearded up, growly but softie Griffin is my catnip. This series keeps sucking me in, especially because the narrator choices have been spot on. Aiden Snow and Savannah Peachwood are the prefect Griff and Bebe. The set up for the next book, Malik Fournier (yes that Fournier from the Cold Fury series) left me downloading it immediately. What romantic suspense series are you binging now? Listen - my January reads have been all over the map- fantasy to historical romance to pure smut. I have Melissa @mrodriguez1738 to thank for this dip into the pure smut pool with The Cavalieri Billionaire Legacy series from new to me but I’ve been meaning to read author, Zoe Blake. I binged the first two in this series and they are definitely hot, but they both had great stories too! I found myself staying up late to finish them. Book one is Scandals of the Father, age gap, BDSM, class difference and complete Touch Her You Die vibes. I like a Daddy as much as any other smut loving reader so Barone worked for me. Book two is Barone’s son, Cesare and Milana, in a childhood friends to enemies to lovers, very over protective hero and I liked it. The miscommunication trope is not my favorite and I wish they would have talked out their issues a bit sooner. I gave in and read the first two of Ana Huang’s Twisted series books back to back with a mix of the audio and ebook. I read the first two in her other series - Kings of Sins - and stopped because I didn’t like them but I thought maybe Twisted Love and Twisted Games will be the ones that hook me. I did like them better than the Kings ones and I can see how people really rave about them. In Twisted Love, we’ve got grumpy/sunshine, best friends sister and a super long game revenge plot. I thought the steam was good and I am sucker for a broody, a-hole hero so I enjoyed Alex but I had figured out who was the baddie about halfway thru, so I was just finishing it to see how Alex’s grovels. BTW the grovel is pretty spectacular. Twisted Games follows reluctant Princess turned Queen Bridget and her surly, totally damaged, ex-military bodyguard with a past, Rhys. Again, Rhys as a hero pushed my dirty talking, Dom(light) buttons along with his overprotective nature.. swoon. But Bridget I didn’t love. Girl you are going to be Queen, make the rules, be with who you want! I did enjoy the twist of Rhys parents though! I may come back the series because the fourth book looks like it may be my jam. Good Time Boyfriend is the first book in a new series from Carrie Ann Ryan and I have been looking forward to it since we met Heath in Best Friend Temptation. Heath totally lived up to the hype! Heath Cassidy has moved to Denver with his two brothers, Luca and August, to be closer to their sister Greer after they were separated by their really horrible parents as kids. He’s opened a bar with his bestie, Ace, and daydreaming about a woman that he only glimpsed once. When that woman comes into the bar with her five siblings yelling that he broke her heart, of course he goes along with the story. Devney is the middle child of a big family (10 siblings) and to get her family off her back about dating, she kinda made up she was dating Heath thinking they would never find out. Now these two start a fake relationship to see if her little white lie could be a truth. Heath and Devney have such a wonderful relationship from beginning to date to meeting each other’s families, they build a strong foundation to grow on. The families banter, meddling and arguing is perfect and we get Noah, Ford and Greer from Best Friend Temptation (which I loved). There is steam, heart and I have very strong feelings about the Cassidy parents. I am obsessed with these characters- I need Luca’s book now (the last chapter of this one sets up that book and 🤯) also I will be waiting impatiently for August’s second chance romance. It’s been a minute since I posted a Stepback and I can’t guarantee I will post them consistently but I picked up so true winners at The Book House this week that need to be showcased! First up is this one that seems super appropriate for the winter weather hitting the U.S. right now. 🍲That bowl of soup (well it’s actually chili because I read the back of the book and she is the Chili Queen of San Antonio) is so hot. That guy is going to scorch his mouth on the way down and his b8tt on the way out if that steam is any indication of the heat. Is this some kind of care taking kink? I feed you super spicy chili to get you warm all over? 🔥They are also really close to the fire, no wonder he had to take off his shirt. Between the fire and the chili and her tata almost falling out he’s got to be sweating. I looked this on up on Goodreads and it has a solid 3.73 rating but the one star review reading: “Started and then it got too trashy, I couldn't finish.” That really intrigues me, like how trashy can it be? In my efforts to post more, I am posting books that I didn’t love but are hyped. Done and Dusted falls into this category for me - the category of “Ok it’s hyped but I don’t get it.” Or “It was fine but not changing my world.” Are those categories on Goodreads? Clementine “Emmy” comes back to her hometown Meadow Lark after an accident barrel racing to regroup. At the local bar, she sees her brother’s best friend, Luke and he’s grown up FIIINNNEEEE. He helps her ride (him and a horse), she realizes he’s a good guy, they keep their riding secret from her overprotective brother and that blows up in their faces. The End. So Done and Dusted, it’s a cowboy, small town, best friends little sister romance, all tropes I like but after all the hype I’ve seen I wanted to be blown away. I was not. It was fine, there is steam, there is angst but I was more interested in the other characters (Hi Gus and Teddy) than the mains. I was excited to read/listen to an adult character with ADHD but that was such a minor part of Emmy and feel like that could have been developed more . I did the audio and the narrators are good so if you are looking for something kinda mindless, quick and predictable they are not jarring on the earholes. Van2 is the tenth book in Sawyer Bennett’s Pittsburgh Titans hockey series. This series is one of my go-to’s for hockey, steam, romance and deeply emotional stories -the series opens with the team dying in a plane crash so you know this ones going to pull on your heart strings. This one was good but I didn’t love it like I usually do the Pittsburgh Titans. We met Van in his original book in the Cold Fury hockey series where he had a grumpy/sunshine, teammates little sister love story with Simone. I loved their book- grumpy / damaged heroes are my jam, they had the steamiest book of the series and Simone’s inability to give up Van was great. Now in their second book (which I am not sure they really needed) Van’s horrible father has died leaving the journals detailing his k*lling sprees to a journalist who has published them. The book destroys Van, he leaves Simone, runs to the Titans to play hockey and asks for a divorce. Of course, Simone tries to reason with him and their fights are explosive with some great make ups. Any book in the Titans world is going to be solid but this one I just wasn’t into. It probably was just me but I wanted Van and Simone to just live out their HEA (which I know doesn’t always happen but give me this illusion.). I felt the ending was a bit rushed and Van needed to grovel more. I listened to the audio on this one and as usual the narrators are fantastic, Aiden Snow & Kit Swan are 🔥. It’s time for Mafia Virgin! If you have been following my posts on the Kings of Italy series from Mila Finelli you know I binged them all at the begin of the year and absolutely loved Fausto and Enzo - the alpha, dirty, mafia Dons- who married sisters Frankie and Gia. Well, now it’s the quiet, studying to be a doctor sister, Emma’s turn to fall for a kinky, murdering mafia Don, Giacomo. Emma and Giacomo are both so unhappy about being forced to marry because of what they both are protecting but they fall so deeply and I loved it! Giacomo is my catnip- a growly, tattooed, murder baby doing bad things to protect. While Emma seems meek but really stands up to him and for what she wants. The spice is perfect, that I have come to expect from Mila Finelli. Lots of foreplay leading up to the actual de-virginizing, spanking, breeding kink and of course, he’s pierced! This is not as out there as Mafia Madman or Mafia Mistress - no-one is in a cage - but there was enough angst and dark to keep me happy. Mafia Virgin has all the tropes- arranged marriage (with a twist that they both don’t want to get married), he becomes obsessed with her, age gap and more kinks than a garden hose. This is book 5, it can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading them in order for maximum enjoyment. My only gripe is that this seems like the last in the series and I want more of these characters and this world! Vito??? Sal?? The next gen of mafia dons????? Finding the Road to Us is the sixth book in Carrie Ann Ryan’s Wilder Brothers series and it just keeps getting better! In this one, it’s the youngest Wilder brother, Elliot’s, HEA with jilted bride, Sydney, and security expert, Trace. When Sydney is left at the altar, Trace and Elliot are there to hold her hand. Fast forward a year and Sydney has come back to see the men she can’t forget who were there for her on the worst day of her life. Trace and Elliot have their own history (remember the end of the previous book 😳) but are they just waiting for Sydney to bring them all together? I loved Elliot and Trace! They are so hot together, they each have their own trauma to work through and I rooted for them. Sydney’s arc of moving forward after the wedding drama and putting her needs above her family is just the stand up for yourself girl power I love in a heroine. Toss in the steam (MMF is one of my favorite Carrie Ann tropes), some meddling Wilder shenanigans and the emotional angst between these three and I read this in one sitting. Carrie Ann Ryan’s Montgomery Ink Legacy series continues with Noah (the kid from my favorite OG Montgomery menage - Maya, Jake and Border), Greer and Ford working towards their HEA. Greer opened a coffee shop with her bestie, Raven, but when her house burns down she turns to Noah and Ford for help. Noah and Ford have been hooking up but their relationship is up in the air because neither one wants to lose their friendship. When Greer moves in they realize she is their missing piece. Now they have to figure out if they can all be together, why accidents are happening and have some spectacular s$x along the way! Best Friend Temptation made me so happy. Ford and Noah have such a wonderful relationship with struggles but when they were together it is fire! Greer balanced them both out, providing them both the stability they needed. Dear Library Fail Books, I haven’t posted a #libraryfail recently not because I haven’t been failing spectacularly at library books but because I have been failing at taking pics as well as reading them. 🎧Audio Review 🎧 Something Like Hate is the first book in Piper Rayne’s new Chicago Grizzlies football series and we finally get Miles and Bryce’s HEA. We met them in the Kingsmen Football series with their undeniable enemies to maybe friends chemistry I have been super interested to see how this all plays out. Miles has been traded to the Grizzles and Bryce got a new job working for a sports magazine putting them both in Chicago with the same friend group. When Bryce starts covering the Grizzlies, she begins to see the real Miles and he’s kinda cool. We do get to find out why they hate each other, both their issues and have some fun along with way. Something Like Hate is an adorable enemies to lovers, he falls first, only one bed with fantastic steam. Miles is just such a good guy- he reads, he’s academic and genuinely wants to help Bryce but when he turns on the s*xy,,, it’s ON 🔥! These two have top tier angsty banter even at inopportune times- like a maternity ward - that made me laugh out loud. The dual narration of Tim Paige and Stephanie Kay is great! Warrior’s Hope is book 15 in Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protector series and I have been counting down the minutes to its arrival! Spoiler…. It did NOT disappoint. Hope is the only female vampire ever born AND carries the responsibility of two hugely powerful families AND might be the only way to create peace with the Kurjan nation AND has to pick between two incredibly hot immortal men……so no pressure. Hope, Paxton and Drake have been meeting in dreamworlds since childhood but now that Ulric is back they can either band together to save the world or does someone have to die? Warrior’s Hope was everything I want in a highly anticipated book, especially from a master like Zanetti. I went into Readers on the River very proud of myself. I did not have any preorders. Like if I didn’t already buy it, I couldn’t possibly bring home more books than the 3 I went with to get signed …right… right. Well, WRONG. Love The Way You Spy kicks off Lexi Blake’s new recruits series with a bang. If you love her Masters and Mercenaries series- like I obviously do- Love The Way You Spy will tic everyone of your LB boxes. It’s got s*x (right from chapter one!!!), sarcastic Ian, lots of action, a BDSM club and it left me screaming for more!!! Love The Way You Spy starts the M&M kids arc with Tasha and Dare. Tasha is working for the Agency with her sisters, Kenzie and Kala, plus found family, Cooper, Tristan, and Lou. They are in Australia to gather information on maybe bad guy Huisman when Tasha accidentally sleeps with Dare. Too bad Dare is the head of a huge company and there to meet with Huisman to work with his foundation. Of course drama ensues, there are some tiny fibs told, some seriously s*xy times and not everyone is as they appear. Tasha! I remember when we first met Tasha, Ian bringing her home and the twins taking her in. To see her all grown up, taking names for the CIA, loving her body and fighting for her HEA is truly perfect. Dare!!! I wanted to just hug him, he balances the Alpha protective Dom with a vulnerability of being left alone. Ok seriously, you know I love this series but Love The Way You Spy is going to be one I reread. It has the heartbreak of Charlie and Ian’s story, mixed with the steam of Grace and Sean and add in the action/Agency drama of the ENTIRE Lost Boys series all in one book. Plus tons of Ian and Charlie, Kenzie/Kala antics and lots of teasers for the next several books! This week I finished up the Pittsburgh Titans series by Sawyer Bennett by reading Hendrix and Camden. I have been binging her Cold Fury hockey series on audio and the Titans with my eyeballs for a few months now. I am so glad to be caught up! I have really enjoyed all the Titans and Hendrix and Camden were no exception! Hendrix and bartender/rocker chic Stevie are adorable! Stevie’s relationship with her dad is perfect and I need a book with him and Rory, ASAP! Camden working through his grief with the help of Danica, who lost her husband in the crash, is heartbreaking. These two wrap up the Lucky Three that weren’t on the plane and I can’t wait to read Bain and Kiera’s book when it comes out November 21! Since I am apparently in my Sawyer Bennett era I WON a spot to sit at her table at Readers on the River! In the past week I have read two Peloton instructors books. XOXO Cody by Cody Rigsby and Activate Your Greatness by Alex Toussaint. We all know I am completely obsessed with my Peloton so it should not be a surprise that I immensely enjoyed both. Both books are reflections of the instructors classes, if you like Cody’s fun, flirty hot takes you will love his book. If you like Alex’s stern, military-esque “Kick Your A$$ While Smiling” approach you will love his book. While Alex and Cody seem vastly different in personality and teaching style both books offer insight into their childhood, how those experiences shaped who they are today, they preach self love and being the best person you can be. In Activate Your Greatness Alex Toussaint begins with how the relationship with his father shaped who he is, from military school to the metoric rise of Peloton. Alex lays out his life- the good, bad, dark and sad but with an attitude of gratefulness. Activate Your Greatness is part inspirational, part motivational and all Alex. For XOXO Cody, if you have ever taken a Cody Peloton class you understand his love of all things Britney, his advice to always be a h8e and ability to motivate you while dropping pop culture references. His book is very much his brand. Sprinkled with stories of his humble upbringing with his less than stable mom, questions from readers and his opinions of everything from the BSB to grape jelly, XOXO Cody is an entertaining read that completely flys by! I had the opportunity in December 2019 (pre COVID at the 23rd St. studio IYKYK) to take a live ride with Cody and he was such a delight in person. Then last week I was able to meet Alex in person at the Peloton On Tour event in Atlanta, he was as kind and motivational as I expected. On Friday I asked you to pick my book and I feel like you guys did me dirty. You know that I am a black hole of emotion so to force me to have my one feeling pulled, you guys recommend What We Broke by Marley Valentine. And wow, when you guys want to destroy me you pick a doozy to do it. Jesse and Leo have suffered a heartbreaking loss and it has destroyed their relationship and family. Told with flashbacks from how they met to how they are trying to put their lives back together with lots of hard work and therapy, What We Broke combines grief, love and hate and forgiveness. It’s every trigger - marriage in crisis, loss of child, alcoholic, suicidal thoughts- yes, I knew going in it would be rough but I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. While I alternated between sadness and cheering for Jesse and Leo to work it out there was some super steamy s*x scenes and adorable family moments. If you are looking for something deeply emotional but still se*y that will tear on your heart I would recommend What We Broke. “You’re mine,” he says with such finality. “You’re my worry, my heartache, my burden. Laurel Snow has to solve another murder case in the small snowy town of Genesis Valley with the help of hunky Fish and Wildlife officer, Huck Rivers. I finally listened to Tattered, the first book in the Lark Cover series by #bookstafavorite Denvey Perry. Tattered was full of tropes that I love- small town, accidental/surprise baby and rich guy/ poor girl. Did I love it??? Ehhh, the narrators were great and the story was ok. The suspense aspect seemed forced and I wasn’t sure how I feel about MMC, Logan. Like he tries to be a great dad but he’s still kinda a jerky a-hole for most of the book. In my backlist journey I realized that I hadn’t read Carrie Ann Ryan’s Whiskey and Lies series! I know I feel shame so I immediately had to read them! The three Collins brothers are business owners in Whiskey Pennsylvania who are actually Tabby’s siblings from the Montgomery Ink book, Ink Exposed (one of my favorite MI books!) These three books have it all - ex-cop turned bartender Dare and Kenzie, the new innkeeper, Fox the intrepid reporter and Melody’s one night stand turned accidental pregnancy and Loch and Ainsley’s friends to lovers.
