Dapper Friday - dust off the book jackets! What is it about the jackets of vintage books that burn bright like a silver flame, sprucing up the books' story and personality? Of these, I like the covers to Death to Slow Music and Mystery Flight. The Death to Slow Music cover is nostalgic, yet ominous with that green glow on the horizon - well suited to Nichols' detective novel and its title. The cover to John Davies' Mystery Flight captures the thrill of the chase and reminds me of adventure scenes from a Tintin book. And, the cover to Death of a Train, with its ground level visual emphasis, suggests those wheels are going to be important in the plot. Story wise, I have read Appointment with Venus - a moving tale of heroism, espionage, and the rescue of a thoroughbred cow from a Nazi-occupied island - recommended! Sunday keeps coming around faster than ever or is it just me ? 🤷♀️. I love a delivery, firstly yesterday a red box with my new @emma_bridgewater Cornwall mug then a cake doorstep delivery by our 6yr old Grandson and his Dad 😋 who had been keeping themselves busy baking. So now a cuppa is in order with our cake, we are going to sit and dream about our next visit to Cornwall and where we might go.
