Move over Gideon’s Bakehouse, there’s a new cookie in town! Summer House On The Lake opened in Disney Springs in late 2023 and boy oh boy are these cookies absolutely worth a stop! Hear me out… I love Gideons and if you’ve never had them, I think it’s worth it to get those cookies over these. HOWEVER, if you have had Gideons and are looking to try something different, this is your solution 😁 1. No long wait or virtual queue. Gideons famously usually had at least a half hour wait or even multiple hours depending on when you go. Summer House is a restaurant but has a separate entrance to the cookie bar. When I was there, I walked right up with no waiting! 2. These cookies are HUGE. Gideons cookies are also big but are more thick and tall. These are wide but also relatively thick. 3. Summer House offers way more flavors and options. I recently finally got to try Summerhouse On The Lake at Disney Springs for the first time. It was fantastic! I can’t wait to go back now and try more dishes! 🍷 I decided, since I love a good crisp rose wine on a warm day, to try their house rose! It was very tasty. Super light and refreshing. I almost went and bought a bottle in their shop up front… next time. 🐟 For my main dish, I tried the barbecue grilled salmon with cheddar grits. The salmon was cooked excellently, not dry at all. And the grits were super flavorful. They made sure that this dish was safe for me to have. I was told that majority of their menu can be modified for the gluten free diet, so the main thing to check for me is the egg. 🍗 My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich with truffle fries. He said the sandwich was very good. The fries were also quite tasty (I did try them as well), but he said that the truffle flavor got a little overwhelming towards the end. Overall this was a great meal and I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other dishes on the menu. We sat at the bar without a reservation on this day, and there was plenty of bar seating available. The bartender was also super nice and very helpful with the menu and my allergies. We’re back out on our monthly cookie adventure to Disney Springs! The way I jumped up and ran to Gideon’s Bakehouse when I saw my all-time favorite cookie and cake are back on the menu for May! Peanut Butter Cold Brew is back on the menu, boys! If you’re in the area this month and love Reese’s like me, you have to get this cookie. We’re also working our way through the Summer House on the Lake cookie bar! We got Peanut Butter and Apple Oatmeal this trip and they were both phenomenal. Big day for peanut butter cookies and ladies who love peanut butter (me). 🍷 Disney Springs Date Night!🍷 Chris and I headed to @summerhouseonthelake last night for a much needed date night and had the best time! Every time I eat here I love it even more! I tried the pink sangria and penne and they were excellent, but the jalapeño cornbread is the absolute best and I will get it every single time! A couple of pro tips: 📆 Summer House isn’t on the MyDisneyExperience app for reservations, but you can make them through OpenTable. 🍪 The cookies are amazing, and you won’t find the hours long virtual queue like you will at Gideon’s, plus they have rice cereal treats and cocktails at the Cookie Bar in addition to cookies. We enjoyed dinner and a movie last night at Disney Springs. We had dinner at Summerhouse on the Lake before seeing the new Unsung Hero movie at AMC across the way. I got what I still say is the best burger on Disney property! After the movie, we went back to the restaurant to get dessert to take home. We got the following from the Cookie Bar : Lemon Cookie, Oatmeal Scotchie Cookie, Orange Creamsicle Cookie, Caramel Apple Pie Cookie, and a Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treat. And we got a slice of Chocolate Banana Cream Pie. Their cookies freeze beautifully and we have dessert for the next week now. lol.
