STRAIGHT FROM MY HEART • My heart is my compass. I sometimes get pushed back by ‘the universe’. For example, I fall off my bike when it’s icy, or hit my head really hard against a beam, literally! The pain at such a moment goes through my whole body, but I breathe. I get up and realize that I kept going for a while, as if I am still Miss Sunshine, not carrying any sadness or pain with me, even if it is ok to be there. Then it suddenly comes in waves of tears and I have no choice but to let it be. The great thing about such a moment is that it is often a moment of growth (although that is difficult to believe at the time itself haha). After such a moment I have learned more to take and feel what the things in life are that I really want and how I am going to achieve them and what is holding me back. I go into nature, close or in the sea, as much as possible. The feeling is there and is allowed to be there. I do the things I do straight from the heart, certainly not perfect, but always with a lot of emotion. Then there often comes a time when I have to laugh out loud at something trivial and I know ‘ah, I’m back!’. On to the next chapter in my book of life, with a big smile and sometimes big tears (also tears of joy). "Changement" Le feu nous anime, la lumière nous guide, la nature est l'équilibre. Les cornes repoussent, les ailes dans leur cocon se préparent, un morceau de soi poussé par le ciel et consommé par les flammes de la terre. Je sent que je m'allège encore et encore, de cet être qui a grandit avec la peur d'exister. Comment exister là maintent ? Je sais ce que je veux faire de ma vie, mais là maintenant, même si j'ai des amis, ils sont si loin, je me sent tellement seule au quotidien, ça fait 5ans bientôt. Je ne peux toujours pas exercer mon métier, cette activité qui m'anime tant, trouver un logement semble si loin d'accès dû à ma situation... être auprès de ma famille aussi. Mais je me réjouis que tout vienne, je sais que je l'obtiendrai. En cet instant, j'oublie pourquoi j'existe, je laisse faire, je navigue, et cette peinture, je l'ai faite spontanément, sans réfléchir ! J'ai même utilisé des plantes en guise de pinceaux x) Je ne savais pas ce que je faisais jusqu'à ce résultat. Je me suis rapproché de mon identité artistique en cette instant. Going into a drawing many times on many different days does, sometimes, present challenges from working in shifting mindsets and energies. An attenuated process tends towards more, and more dramatic, surprises. The endeavor to integrate elements across the whole calls me to deeper levels of meditation, and occasionally to exercises in simply leaving things be. Part of what I love about working with abstract forms is the freedom to experience without interpretation or narrative. 《164.5》 Dernière de ma série charnière, je n'en dit pas plus, à part pour le choix représentatif. Même si cette peinture incarne une des pire violence que j'ai traversé ces dernières années, je ne l'ai pas représenté de la manière la plus violente visuellement : pas de corps en décomposition ou de visage tiraillé de douleur, nan, j'ai plutôt opté pour une attitude démonstrative que plaintive. Une posture qui veut dire "regardez ce que je porte" plutôt que de la détresse, qui collait moins à mon état d'âme. Mais la violence est toujours lisible, même sur le visage, les yeux rougis, écarquillés, prête à éclater. Ça sonne plus comme une menace de larme au final, de hurlements ou de poésie noir. Ou inversement, un début d'acceptation et d'apaisement. Je sais que mes peintures sont "simple et facile" dans la technique et fond même "nerveux" dans le tracé, mais rien dans la composition n'est appliqué au hasard. "Le poison" Je poursuis ma petite série de représentation défouloir avec cette visqueuse peinture. Attention je m'en doigte la cravate et je vide mon sac : Comment notre pays peut-il autorisé la vente de tels produits encore plus destructeur et addictif que les drogues illicites ? On me les a refilé comme des bonbons, sans réellement me prévenir des conséquences qu'ils auraient sur mon corps, la liste des effets secondaire fut terriblement longue et alarmante... je me suis sentie négligée quand je pleurais de douleur en disant que je voulais arrêté "mais faut attendre que ça passe", vous avez pas idée de la colère que j'ai eux. Et d'autant plus quand j'ai échangé avec ce groupe de personne qui peinait à arrêter psk le sevrage les rendait fou et qu'ils en avaient mare d'être vide, il a été dure et douloureux pour ma part aussi. Ça a été sujet de dispute, psk ils voulaient me donner un nouveau traitement et on me traita de "tête de mule !" psk je m'y refusais. On ne m'a jamais expliqué que 30% de la population avait un métabolisme qui résistait à ces médicaments, que ceux comme je reçu créais des déconnection neuronale dès la première prise, alors que j'étais en pleine reconstitution de moi-même vis à vis de mes trauma et mon anxiété, ça a comme "tout cassé " (d'où le château cristallin sur la maison en ruine) . Heureusement que je suis une tête de mule comme ils disent, et que j'ai pu réparer leurs conneries, ou la mienne, j'aurais me tenir à mon intuition et dire Non fermement, je m'en suis tellement voulue. Franchement on devrait donné ces médocs en cas d'extrême urgence ou en s'assurant mieux de la correspondance chimique. Lobbies de merde. " C'est pas en anesthésiant tes émotions que tu apprendras à mieux vivre avec. Ah c'est sûr il y en a ils ne s'écoutent tellement pas, que c'est bon de ne plus rien ressentir et ne plus se soucier de soi. From 2014 to early 2017 my drawing practice was a mobile venture. I drew on train and bus rides in multiple transitions throughout each workday (which for me included weekends). My method of working in deep meditative states proved transportable, a few minutes of focused breathing and prayer ushering in the same creative rush that I would have at home in the studio. Drawing sessions varied in length from ten or 20 minutes to around an hour, or more depending on which leg of my commute I was on, and if there were any productivity-expanding delays. My life at that time was filled with transitions, multiple workplaces, plus multiple home visits for teaching. My sketchbook was my continuity and my space of integration. Given the stress of so many starts and stops en route to completion, some of my drawings taking up to 3 or 4 months to produce this way, the coherence and graphic consistency within the works meant a lot to me. It was evidence of connection with something greater than pedestrian thinking, an expression of my higher self and its flexible, creative connection to Source and guidance. Effortlessness in my drawing practice began when I joined my spiritual practices with my studio practice. Working in my windows of commuting demanded a new level of determination, clarity and discipline… from which my work benefits in perpetuity.
