Origin story time?! . HI! I'm Anthea and I have been working away on Remix Plastic for 6 years! Before I started in 2018, I was aware of the gap between people wanting to make sustainable changes, and actually knowing where to start or what to do. So I set up my education company with the goal of having kōrero around recycling, the problems with single-use and ultimately, what we can do as individuals to make small, easy changes to reduce our impact on the environment. I knew that to talk to people about reducing waste, I would need a good hook. Not something that would make them disengage, but something that was a conversation starter. That's how my small scale plastic recycling set up came to be! Inspired by @realpreciousplastic , this is essentially the same process as commercial recycling and is a great way to explain the system, the problems with it and conclude with "so why not try switch to something without packaging and save all this hassle?!" 🤣 Over the years, our products have become more and more a part of our work (with Covid cancelling all in-person workshops, they had to be!). Now they act as vehicles for stories about conservation, slow fashion, low waste, eco-living and more, while also raising money for various campaigns! . To celebrate the Netherlands King's Day 2024, Ambassador H.E. Janet Alberda hosted a reception at the Netherlands Residence in the Diplomatic Quarter. Ambassador Alberda, reflected on her four years of service in Saudi Arabia, an assignment for which she had sought since the beginning of her diplomatic career. “I can now proudly say that these four years have been very significant in the Saudi-Netherlands relationship, which looks different from the relationship I found upon arrival in the Kingdom." So, these are my first two attempts of guitars modeled off a Stratocaster body. The first one is made from medicine vial tops that everyone at work has been saving for me. (Thanks, y'all!) I didn't have enough to fill the mould all of the way, so I topped it off with a bunch of waste from used CNC bit containers. The second one is 100% hdpe tops from 7th tap! It's a little rougher, but I kind of like the style. It needs a little touch up for the alignment of the pickups. They both need a little tweaking to the backside---its a one sided mould. I have no idea if these work, but I look forward to making them work with my friend, @drjoshmusic . 🤘🤙✌️ Making a guitar was one of the three big things I had very loose goals in trying to create. EPIC’s Perpetual Plastic Team @perpetualplasticsxm on Sint Maarten recently met with representatives from @stichtingdoen, a funder from the Netherlands which supports initiatives in the field of culture and cohesion, and in the field of green and inclusive economy, focusing on sustainable, cultural and social innovation. It was wonderful getting to know more about the fund and the opportunities it brings to the Dutch Caribbean islands, and being able to explain more about our project, and show them our ‘up and coming’ plastic recycling social workspace. Da sindse wieder! Die Haken aus dem sehr entspannten Workshop von @das.rezyklat . Gestern haben wir sie aufgehängt: Sie kamen vielleicht von draußen (und waren mal ein weggeworfener Plastikstuhl, den Dustin und Steffen von der Straße zu sich genommen haben) und gehen nun auch wieder dorthin zurück. Denn … … wir haben erstens endlich die Gartensaison eröffnet und zweitens pimpen wir gerade unseren Schuppen für euch. Er wird jetzt unser Ausstellungsraum! Die Plörren sind inzwischen komplett ausgeräumt – alles fliegt jetzt draußen rum – und der Schuppen wartet auf Flickzeug, ein paar kleine Installationen und einen Anstrich. Garten und Schuppen werden so langsam – fertig sind wir aber noch lange nicht. Nos objectifs : concevoir un produit qui puisse être injecté en série lors de nos animations. -100g maximum/ injection, -Mono matériau, -Utile, -Durable, -Esthétique, -Avec le moins de retraitement (ébavurage, perçage…). 1/ Croquis : A partir de ce qu’on trouve sur l’internet (pinterest, instagram, etsy…) on développe une idée de base, ici un porte clé multi usage. 2/ Prototype : Prise en compte des contraintes mécaniques liées à l’objet avec des prototypes en bois. Nécessité d’avoir une pièce rectangulaire pour l’équilibre du smartphone. Réaliser 2 encoches de 2 tailles différentes pour pouvoir accueillir toutes tailles de smartphone. 3/ 3D : On travaille ensuite à la modélisation 3D de la pièce et du moule avec les cotes finales. 4/ Production moule : On envoi le moule à la découpe laser chez un partenaire local. 5/ Production pièces : On produit les premières pièces et on réalise quelques ajustements (grammage exacte, température de fonte, découpage des carottes…). Die Designer Steffen Hartwig und Dustin Jessen setzen sich experimentell und künstlerisch mit Recycling-Prozessen und, in diesem Rahmen, insbesondere mit Precious Plastic auseinander.
