According to UW study, "Researchers estimated that two-thirds of Island County residents, including everyone in the cities of Oak Harbor and Coupeville, were exposed to potentially harmful levels of noise, as was 85% of the population of the Swinomish Indian Reservation. In total, an estimated 74,316 people were exposed to average noise levels that posed a risk of annoyance, 41,089 of whom were exposed to nighttime noise levels associated with adverse effects on sleep. Another 8,059 people — most of whom lived within fairly close proximity to aircraft landing strips – were exposed to noise levels that can pose a risk of hearing impairment over time." 🌻 dear diary, I think i will be a better person if I live away from the city that never sleeps. I visualize my future every single day and know everything will happen in its own time..the ability to ground my feet on my own grass at any point in the day, to drink my morning beverage in our own backyard and watch the trees dance in the wind, to never again hear the sounds of cars honking and an ice cream truck playing the same tune for hours under our window, to have our own little garage gym so i never ever have to leave home, to have space for my necessities (and actual closets bc FU nyc apartments). LASEPA Shuts Premises In Orile Iganmu & Surulere For Noise Pollution - Politics LASEPA @LasepaOfficial Today, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) conducted a comprehensive enforcement operation aimed at curbing noise pollution and other environmental violations in the Surulere and Orile lganmu areas of Lagos State. Despite repeated warnings and abatement notices issued in the past, numerous establishments, persisted in contravening LASEPA's directives. Consequently, these non-compliant establishments have been temporarily shut down to ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations. So proud of @longbeachcity & @cityoflosangeles residents that showed up yesterday at the Long Beach & @vannuysairport to protest rogue aviation that has taken over Los Angeles county communities with nonstop aviation noise, fuel, & lead pollution. @faa & local govt are refusing redress. Residents are fighting for aviation decorum. Our neighborhoods are not playgrounds for small air pilots and helicopter pilots that are sending SOUND WAVES (pollution) through our day to day living spaces. Many are withholding taxes until redress is had. The Los Angeles county board of supervisors took over an aviation noise pollution complaint app prior to the pandemic and agreed to address the complaints but never did. They got rid of the app after never addressing 300,000 aviation noise complaints during a 3 year time period in @countyofla. We are demanding a resolution to restore existing communities and to take flight schools to designated areas. According to new University of Washington study, "Researchers estimated that two-thirds of Island County residents, including everyone in the cities of Oak Harbor and Coupeville, were exposed to potentially harmful levels of noise, as was 85% of the population of the Swinomish Indian Reservation. In total, an estimated 74,316 people were exposed to average noise levels that posed a risk of annoyance, 41,089 of whom were exposed to nighttime noise levels associated with adverse effects on sleep. Another 8,059 people — most of whom lived within fairly close proximity to aircraft landing strips – were exposed to noise levels that can pose a risk of hearing impairment over time." LASEPA, Tuesday conducted a comprehensive enforcement operation targeting noise pollution and other environmental violations in the Yaba, Ebute-Metta, and Makoko areas of Lagos. Despite repeated warnings and abatement notices issued in the past, numerous establishments persisted in flouting LASEPA’s directives. As a result, these non-compliant entities have been temporarily shut down in the overall interest of public health. Among the prominently affected establishments are Smart Bakery, Christ Apostolic Church Mountain of Power Ministry, Larry Shine Hotel, Kinblesh Hotel. Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, emphasized the critical importance of businesses and religious centers, maintaining environmental standards. He reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to fostering a balanced and sustainable environment for Lagos residents.
