When you take friendship overseas and across borders. The girls are older and perfectly capable of reading a manual and following its instructions. Does anyone else’s kids like to hang out with them at work? I’m plotting a technical webpage with tutorials etc. here, hence all the dry erase board scribbles and billions of monitors. My oldest son has hung out here a few times. Once was to review cheer stuff for tryouts and work on homework, and another time to apply for jobs. My middle son has been here about 2-3 times as well. Once he helped me box up a lot orders and files and such. One time he came and helped move some furniture and scrub scuff marks off a wall. My daughter though, has been here a ton. Sometimes, she asks if I can come home from lunch and bring her back. I remember going to my dad’s work once for “Bring your daughter to work day” and it was pretty interesting and a fun memory. It’s always fun having my kids here at work. They usually play on their phones, color, read, listen to music, talk, and sometimes I put them to work. Today’s schedule, in case you couldn’t tell: 7:20 a.m.–leave home to take Daughter 1 to band practice in the next town. 7:40–drop her off and head back home to pick up the other two 8:15–leave home to take the other two 8:30–drop Daughter 2 off at volleyball practice 9:00–drop Daughter 3 off at dance camp 9:05–arrive at work to starting putting my classroom back together 9:50–leave work to pick up D2 10:00–pick up D2 10:15–arrive back at work with D2 to help (meanwhile, a family member picks up D1 for her lunch break and drops her back off at band—11:00-12:00) 11:55–leave to pick up D3 12:00 p.m.–pick up D3 and head home 12:15–get home to eat lunch and see my toddler son 1:10–leave for D2 doctor appointment in the next town 2:15–leave dr. appt. and head home 2:40–drop D2 off at home to stay with toddler while he naps; leave to pick up D1 3:00–pick up D1 and head home 3:20–arrive home to do some laundry and spend time with my boy 5:15–toddler poop blowout 5:35–start cooking dinner 6:05–eat 6:15–leave to drop girls off for church in the next town 6:50–stop at the pharmacy for D2’s prescriptions 7:00–arrive home 7:40–water the plants 8:15–toddler bedtime routine begins 8:45–toddler is in bed asleep 9:25–waiting for Ds 1, 2, 3 to be dropped off by relative Notice I didn’t get a workout in today. She came into this world so sweet, beautiful and happy… she is still all of those things today. She is our reminder that God if always faithful. To the husband and wife that stood behind me at church and watched me hold & sway my 2 year old in my arms for the entire hour of worship while I sang out each word with an outstretched hand spending time with Jesus.... To the husband and wife that sat behind me at church for the beginning of the second half of service and saw my sweet 2 year old 👉almost silently express joy with wiggles and smiles.... To the husband and wife that stood up, leaned over and said, "Take him to the nursery!" Then walked out of the church room.... I'm just a mama. I'm just a mama trying to bring my babies to church I'm just a mama trying to show my children the goodness of God. I'm just a mama who desperately needed church this morning. I'm just a mama that got up and did all the things Mama's do to get themselves & their families ready for church. And yet - halfway through the service I was walking out - shaking holding back tears because I couldn't get to you and tell you those things before you looked at me shrugged me away and sat front row in the commons area. My babies deserve a spot in that church room just as much as any other person there. Even you. My babies deserve to take up space. Jesus loves my children, and he wants them in that church building. To the husband and wife who shamed me at church today, I hope you reflect on your actions and don't repeat them. Because while I will absolutely bring my babies back to church.... I LOVE our church. Another mama that was in my place this morning might not ever show up to a church building again. And that breaks my heart. Because Mama's need Jesus. Our babies need Jesus. This year my word is YES. I’m not one to usually stick with things like that but so far in 2023 I’ve said YES to things big and small. Remembering my intentions when I decided on my word. Saying YES last night at @canadaswonderland wasn’t just about going on rides that I’d never tried, having Starbucks at 10pm and getting wet on the White Water Canyon. 🤔🤔🤔Do you know what's in your deodorant? 🤔 Tom's of Maine is often used as a "starter" deodorant for kids because its recognized as safe. First ingredient? Aluminum Chlorohydrate! 😱 🫣Then there's dicaprylyl ether which may cause skin irritation, vomiting and difficulties breathing, and fragrance (the "F" word!). All ingredients to avoid! ❗️Maltodextrin is a highly processed glucose that may raise your blood sugar levels when absorbed. Native is another brand considered safe. It contains ozokerite which is a "mineral wax or paraffin" which may contain carcinogens such as benzene, magnesium hydroxide and fragrance (again, that "F" word!). 😖 It also contains cyclodextrin and dextrose, both sugars. Want to make the best use of of the time you have with your teen while they are still at home? (Or set things up before they even become a teenager so you can skip the distant stage?) First, start using these 2 simple tools from Language of Listening® to ground your child in self-belief: 1) SAY WHAT YOU SEE®: say what you see the child doing to point out the PROOF of the STRENGTH you are going to name. (This gets their self-belief rooted in FACTS rather than someone's opinion) 2) Name the STRENGTH using this phrase: "That shows you..." For example: "You heard Grandma ask for water when no one else did. That shows you're a good listener." Even if it feels like your teen is ANYTHING BUT a good listener - point it out anyway. Because it not only effects their view of themself and gets that STRENGTH showing up more frequently (because people can't help but want to experience their STRENGTHs over and over again).  It will also change who you see in front of you when you look at your child... and that is EVERYTHING.
