In 2018, the Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council (HPRAC) presented two reports on Applied Behaviour Analysis regulation in Ontario. While the drawbacks of the BACB were acknowledged and further supported regulation of Behaviour Analysis in Ontario for public protection, the common theme from professionals was regulation WITH BACB certifications. These reports ultimately initiated the Ontario certification process we are seeing being built today. **Why This Matters:** ๐ Regulating with additional options for credentials is an additional layer for maintaining high standards and protecting those who rely on these services. So, when I was introduced to the people at The Childrenโs Trust, the Nurturing Fathers Program seemed liked a perfect fit,โ The curriculum requires each participant to examine the little boy inside to help them find the father they want to become. That can be difficult for a lot of men, but the reward for such in-depth self-examination is a better understanding of how to do better by your child. Without adequate rates, children with the highest needs are left without the vital support that Foster Family Agencies (FFAs)and Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTPs) provide. When youth cannot be cared for by their relatives, #FFAs and #STRTPs act as safety nets that provide the stabilization needed to make family reunification and permanency possible. If the foster care rate proposal is implemented in its current form, many #FFAs and #STRTPs will be closed by 2026. National Crime Victimsโ Rights Week started yesterday! It will run from April 21-27, 2024. This is a time to recognize the rights of crime victims and survivors, along with professionals who provide important services to victims of crime. Established in 1981, it was set with the goal to get people to confront and remove barriers to achieve justice for all victims of crime. This year, the weekโs theme is: How would you help? Options, services, and hope for crime survivors and their families. With that in mind, service providers are asking people to join them this week and remember victims like Atlas Simpson, Tarina Fields Price, Kyan King, Ja'Zirah Rodgers, Philip Randolfo, the children of the West Nickel Mines Amish School, Justice Maddox, Hitender Thakur, and all crime victims. With crime occuring everyday, we as a community have to create a safe environment for crime victims to share what happened to them. This is a call to action! How can you help crime victims?
