We often hear about genetic mutations playing a role in one's breast cancer diagnosis, and while it's true that inherited gene mutations like BRCA1 and BRCA2 can increase the risk of developing breast cancer, do you think that most women who are diagnosed have a family history of disease? #feelforyourlife #breastcancersurvivor #selfbreastexam #breastselfexam #feelitonthefirst #womenshealthcare #womensmedicalcare #mydensitymatters #breastdensity #breasthealth #previvor #mammogram #chemo #DIEPFLAP #breastscreening #radiology #selfexams #selfexamssavelives #womenshealth #womenslivesmatter #tnbc #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #brca #bracapositive #medicaladvocate #patientadvocate

A study published in The Breast brings attention to breast density prior to a cancer diagnosis. Research show that those with less dense breasts are less likely to experience a recurrence of the disease. This discovery, particularly significant for women with cancers detected through screening, could guide personalized surveillance approaches after breast cancer treatment. The research uncovered a connection between elevated mammographic breast density upon diagnosis and compromised recurrence-free survival, particularly pronounced in screening-detected instances. However, the study did not establish substantial associations between tumor appearance and recurrence-free survival. #feelforyourlife #breastcancersurvivor #selfbreastexam #breastselfexam #womenshealthcare #womensmedicalcare #mydensitymatters #selfexamssavelives #breastdensity #breasthealth #previvor #mammogram #ultrasound #chemo #DIEPFLAP #breastscreening #radiology #selfexams #selfexamssavelives #womenshealth #womenslivesmatter #tnbc #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #brca #bracapositive #brcastrong

We hope you're as attentive to your breast health as you are to today's solar eclipse. (We trust you are!) Surprisingly, this celestial event offers a valuable lesson on breast density! Your breast density not only influences your cancer risk but also impacts the effectiveness of various breast screenings. When you think about how it compares to the solar eclipse, your breast density can hide or cover lumps and abnormalities on screenings, making them more difficult to see or detect. Do you know your breast density or talked to your doctor about it? A cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) breast screening solution, dubbed Mia, has demonstrated remarkable success in its first prospective evaluation in the UK. Mia has shown the potential to revolutionize breast cancer screening, offering hope for improved outcomes for thousands of women across the UK. The study, conducted at NHS Grampian and funded by a UK Government 'AI in Health and Care Award,’ evaluated Mia's performance in detecting breast cancer among 10,889 patients. The results unveiled a significant advancement: Mia aided doctors in identifying an additional 12% of breast cancers compared to routine practice. This augmented AI workflow not only led to earlier detection, particularly of high-grade cancers, but also demonstrated a promising decrease in unnecessary recalls for further assessment, potentially reducing the workload by up to 30%. #feelforyourlife #breastcancer #mammogram #mri #breastscreening #breastcancerpatient #cancerpatient #ayacancer #oncology #oncologist #radiologist #breastcancerawareness #radiology #selfexams #selfexamssavelives #womenshealth #brca #bracapositive #medicaladvocate #patientadvocate #womenshealthcare #womensmedicalcare #breastdensity #breasthealth #ayacancer

Sharing a breast cancer diagnosis can be difficult. Finding the right balance between sharing enough information and respecting your own privacy can be a challenge. Plus, there's the uncertainty that comes with it – not having all the answers can be overwhelming. You have to explain something complex that you're still figuring out yourself. And then, there's the emotional side, navigating your own feelings and theirs. It's a lot to handle, but being open and clear about your needs and boundaries can make it a bit more manageable. On this date in 2019, I had surgery to my spine due to Cauda Equina Syndrome. This condition mimics many illness and diseases. Because it is such a tricky condition to diagnosis, it took years to determine, countless tests and doctor visits through out the years. It only took only a few minutes after an MRI on 1.29.19 to decide that my case was an emergency and I needed surgery. My dream is that people are heard when they say they have pain and go to their physicians for help and guidance. Not all of us are seeking pain meds. I know I am generalizing, but, if I had not been overweight, Hispanic and a woman, maybe I would have been believed sooner. To anyone out there with this condition, keep spreading the word about CES. ✌️ For fun, here are a few pics from my first week after surgery and my care team 😺🐶 #caudaequinasyndrome #pets #chronicpain #spinalsurgery #coachellavalley #womensmedicalcare #notjustabadback #imwinning
