The movie has a unique and eclectic soundtrack that perfectly captures the essence of the CULT classic film it is based on. It features a diverse range of artists and genres, blending rock, country, and Latin music to create a soundtrack that is as GRITTY and intense as the movie itself. One of the standout tracks on the album is "Dark Night" by The Blasters, which sets the tone for the entire soundtrack with its haunting vocals and rockabilly sound. Of course, Tito & Tarantula's "After Dark," is such a sultry and seductive track that perfectly captures the dark and dangerous atmosphere of the film. Naturally, Salma Hyaek made this scene so ICONIC and absolutely became a PINNACLE of many peoples FANTASIES. Also, scene with the human parts as instruments lived RENT FREE in my head for YEARS (and still does, ngl). I remember my dad pointing this out to me at a young age- and they wonder why I LOVE HORROR! This vinyl seamlessly WEAVES together a diverse range of musical styles to create a cohesive and immersive listening experience that perfectly COMPLEMENTS the film. I previously mentioned, in the beginning of HORROR MACARONI, that I grew up the next town over from Amityville in LONG Island. To this day, I always pick up items related to the house. This score is GENUINELY CREEPY, following the more traditional clasical approach than other works of that era. Lalo Schifrin utilizes the full orchestra. It also has a disco track which SHAKES thing off, almost in a JARRING way.. It kind of takes you out of the SPOOKY vibes that the whole thing brings. Besides the disco track, you can EASILY put yourself in the shoes of the Lutz and the absolute torment they endure throughout the film. Encapturing the tense and impending DREAD of the house. I picked this up during the PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKET hosted by @edgemenprinting. You can really hear how Richard Band (brother of B-Movie icon producer Charles Band) liberally took the style of Bernard Hermann* and pairs the music to the SKIN CRAWLING moments of the movie; it makes for a good HORROR movie soundtrack. Naturally, I was drawn to it because of its mere existence, being a Bava film and all, and because, well, my name is in the title 🤘🏼👻 In December, while visiting the @thearchivect , long and behold, on the wall, there stands the VINYL. How could I RESIST! The score by Carlo Savina is rich and ATMOSPHERIC, and was thought to be LOST until 2021 when it was found in an archive in Spain. This movie was cut and re-released as 'House of Exorcism' that really ENFORCED the Exorcism Sub-Plot; RADICALLY different from one another. Attempting to ride the coat tail of the exorcist, it did not hold up as Alfredo Leone intended. This movie is a MUST for Bava fans. Misty and DREAMLIKE with vivid splashes of BLOOD bringing the VIOLENT nature (at moments) forward. Oh. Telly Savalas is in it, with his LOLLIPOP. Very Kojak.
