La battaglia di Carentan fu un combattimento militare avvenuto tra il 10 e il 15 giugno 1944, pochi giorni dopo lo sbarco in Normandia durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Nel corso della battaglia le truppe statunitensi conquistarono il villaggio di Carentan, crocevia fondamentale per le vie di trasporto in Normandia, ancora in mano tedesca. Non ho idea se riuscirò a vedere Parigi "la città delle luci"...molti dei miei amici dicono che conquistata poi torneremo a casa... magari vorrei dire lo stesso. l'offensiva delle Ardenne non fu un successo immediato. Le condizioni meteorologiche erano peggiori, l'aviazione alleata era molto più potente e le scorte di carburante tedesche scarseggiavano. Il 23 dicembre il tempo cominciò a schiarirsi. A metà gennaio 1945 la mancanza di carburante costrinse i tedeschi ad abbandonare i loro veicoli, il che fu fatale per le ambizioni di Hitler. Il 25 gennaio 1945 la battaglia era finita. La battaglia del Bulge fu l'operazione più costosa mai combattuta dall'esercito americano: 10.733 soldati americani furono uccisi e 42.316 feriti. Le perdite tedesche ammontarono a 12.652 morti e 38.600 feriti. Il villaggio di Sainte-Marie-du-Mont fu occupato da sessanta soldati tedeschi del 191° reggimento di artiglieria (91. Divisione di fanteria). I tedeschi usavano il campanile della chiesa come punto di osservazione e nelle giornate limpide potevano vedere fino al mare. Lontani da un'invasione prevista vicino a Calais, non sapevano che il villaggio si trovava all'estremità meridionale della "zona di lancio c" del D-Day. Dopo un pesante bombardamento costiero da parte degli Alleati subito dopo la mezzanotte del 6 giugno 1944, i primi paracadutisti americani furono sganciati nelle prime ore buie sulla Normandia occupata. I piani prevedevano che le truppe del 506° reggimento di fanteria paracadutisti e del 3° battaglione del 501° reggimento di fanteria paracadutisti della 101a divisione aviotrasportata atterrassero nella "zona c". Qui, dietro la spiaggia dello Utah, avevano il compito di liberare la strada per migliaia di soldati che arrivavano via mare dall'Inghilterra. Operazione Market Garden fu il nome in codice assegnato dai comandi Alleati, durante la seconda guerra mondiale, a un'operazione militare in Olanda che aveva l'obiettivo di conquistare e controllare cinque ponti, uno in fila all'altro. All'ultimo ponte le truppe di Montgomery si trovarono però bloccate da una divisione corazzata tedesca che si trovava lì praticamente per puro caso. Poiché per la riuscita dell'operazione quattro ponti non bastavano, il piano fallì. L'obiettivo era quello di attraversare di sorpresa il Reno con le truppe alleate arrivate in Europa in seguito allo sbarco in Normandia, avanzando poi direttamente sul suolo tedesco e sulla vitale regione industriale della Ruhr, allo scopo di provocare un crollo definitivo del nemico e concludere la guerra entro il Natale del 1944. Posting my Infantry NCO again, but now with its original Shoulderboards. This Tunic was found i Kurland by first owner and had these beautifull m33 shoulderboards. 62th Infantry regiment have a long and hard history. They were in Poland, France and on the Eastern Front just to name some places. In 1941 they participated in anti partisan warfare. Its to long a story to name all the things and places these guys did and visited. The gymnast sewn in accordance with the standard of the central department of Peoples commissariat of Defense No. 1446, approved on December 15, 1938. Closed placket, blackened metal buttons with a star, stitching pocket, smooth, turn-down collar, elbow pads were put. Historical reference: By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR dated January 6, 1943, and by the Order of the People's Commissar of Defense No. 25 dated January 15, 1943, new insignia were introduced for the Red Army - shoulder straps. In this regard, the uniform of soldiers and commanders was changed. New models of field shirts were accepted for supply - with a standing collar. However, in the units and subdivisions of the Red Army, as well as in the warehouses, there was a huge number of shirts of the rank and file and commanding and staff of the 1935 model. Therefore, these shirts continued to be used by personnel and issued to wear from warehouses, but with new insignia. Regia Aereonautica! Oggi torno a parlare della mia piccola collezione con un post dedicato alla Regia Aereonautica. Facente parte delle Forze Armate del Regno D'italia,venne istituita nel 1923 prendendo parte alla Riconquista della Libia, conquista dell'Etiopia, in Spagna, Albania, Grecia e seconda guerra mondiale. Fu operativa fino al 1943 quando, dopo l'armistizio, venne a crearsi nel sud Italia l'Areonautica Cobelligerante Italiana e al nord l'Areonautica Nazionale Repubblicana. Nel post è presente un distintivo facente parte di una Controspallina da Regia Aeronautica. Il costruttore è Ambrogio Binda Milano. Spesso tale distintivo veniva applicato anche su bustine o caschi coloniali. Perfetta conservazione. Mentre sono inoltre presenti due cartoline della R. Finally Im able to show you impression I worked on for quite some time. SA-Wehrmannschaft for “Untersteiermark” or lower styria region in Slovenia. They were militia of political organisation Steirischer Heimatbund which basically included all “reich worthy” people of occupied Styria. With formation of first resistance movements in 1941, germans responded with mobilisation of all male SH members from age 18-45. Their main task was antipartisan warfare, their biggest action was on 8.1.1943 when Pohorski bataljon was destroyed on Osankarica. Since most of them of were Slovenes quite soon they started to avoid partisan forces and started to switch sides, equiped with mostly old captured equipment they werent quite the force that germans could rely on. They were disassembled in late 1944 when Volkssturm was created. Equipment was old, but uniform was quite up to the standard, it was complete SA mountain uniform with Steirischer Heimatbund armband. I was testing out pattern for german tunic I made and luckily I had fabric at home. With some help from a friend, he was able to pull couple of strings in national museum to get better pictures and dimensions of an armband. Im still missing “berg-hose”, ill make them after I dress couple of guys in my dms 🤞
