I never told this to a lot of people. Actually, some friends of mine knew that ever since last year, I was preparing for the doctoral degree entrance examination of Xiamen University College of Foreign Languages . And undoubtedly, I failed. My knowledge of this failure dates back to March 21st. But yesterday, April 28th, When I was taking a metro on my business trip in suzhou, I got a call from Xiamen University College of Foreign Languages, and I was informed that I was qualified for an additional enrollment. But the research direction was totally different from mine as I was informed to study with another tutor, researching about sign languages. Sign languages? A language specifically and exclusively used by people with hearing and speaking challenges? Hell no, that was not my choice. For the past eight years I have been learning English interpretating as my major, and I never thought about changing it. Since I was endowed with this kind of ability, why not just make the best of it for the rest of my life? If I really chose sign language as my research direction, I would be disappointed to myself and it would be torturing for me over the next three or four years. After thorough deliberation and discussion with my family, I turned down this opportunity.
