Both Dharamshala and McLeodganj are about 30 minutes away from each other, so we visited as many places as we could. ⬇️ Here's a little background on this place: At one time, Tibet was a great country, now occupied by China. The Dalai Lama, the head of the country and also the head of the religion, had to flee the country to save his life during the invasion. The Indian government helped the Dalai Lama and thousands of Tibetan refugees during that time by providing asylum registration certification, which allowed the Tibetan community to preserve their unique culture and religion despite living in exile. And currently, the Dalai Lama is in residence in Dharamsala with his Tibetan Government-in-Exile. 🌍 Guinea Conakry 🇬🇳 2022: The city centre of Conakry is quite small and can be discovered within a couple of hours on foot. Its highlights include: . ✅ National museum ✅ Martyr square with a nice statue and the flag ✅ the main cathedral ✅ the main harbour with colourful boats ✅ huge amount of 🦇 🦇🦇🦇(I will make a separate post about them) . I really enjoyed the little but cute national museum where for the entrance fee of 1 USD you get quite a long and detailed private guided tour in French. 🌍 Guinea 2022: Journey itself is often better than the destination. I just love travelling overland and crossing borders. . I crossed the border from Guinea Bissau to Guinea Conakry by a moto taxi travelling 4 hours on a very bumpy road from Contabane to Boke. This road dosas not even exist on Google Map and is a kind of a short cut through the jungle. . I just loved small border crossing check points somewhere I the jungles with hardly anyone crossing there during the day. My driver was from a village located in “no man’s land” and it was nice to visit his family and try some delicious fresh peanuts before continuing our journey. . The best about this adventurous border crossing was crossing a river by a small boat which he space for two bikes at a time.
