Canyon Core 2024: Part 2 - Temple of Sinawava, Riverside Walk and, of course, the Shuttle Bus Did you know that for most of the year much of #ZionNationalPark is inaccessible by car? Instead, visitors are treated to one heck of a shuttle bus system. We took it to the end of the line, stop 9, to visit the #TempleofSinawava. Previously known as “The Gateway to the Narrows”, Riverside Walk is an accessible hike that’s a fantastic introduction to the park. I was struck by the vegetation and rushing waters we encountered after exploring a couple of dry canyon days. *Unfortunately for us, the water levels were too high and the Narrows were shut down for safety. Next time!

Day 2 we returned to @zionnps because why wouldn’t you?! We started out with the Riverside Walk hike along the Virgin River and ended up at the Temple of Sinawava which leads to the Narrows and gorgeous views of the river with the canyon walls closing in. From there we headed to the Grotto and the Keyenta trail which leads to the Emerald Pools. Again, amazing views. Although, this trail turned out to be more challenging than we expected we still had a great time and a great workout! I’m not sure if the trail was challenging or trying to steer clear of the abundance of hikers!! We earned the beer! Desert Road Trip, Day 1: Zion National Park. First day of a massive road trip thru the Utah and Arizona deserts with @james._rains. Walking Riverside Walk through Temple of Sinawava. You need a permit to hike through the Narrows past Big Spring. We just walked Riverside up to Big Spring and turned back. A hike through The Narrows requires hiking in the Virgin River. You must get your feet wet since there is no trail. [美西之旅特輯] 第六篇最終章：St. George→ Las Vegas 日期：2023/5/30 路程：222mi / 355km 途經：錫安國家公園、Virgin River Gorge (on I-15) 過了半年，剛好在年尾發出這趟旅程的最終章。雖然時隔已久，但一趟好的旅程仍像昨天剛結束一般，記憶猶新。 昨晚夜宿距Zion車程約40分鐘的聖喬治小鎮，隔天一早便驅車回到了Zion。本以為Memorial day假期完了隔天人應該不多，進入園區的車輛卻是綿延了幾百公尺。排到我們入場，秀了我們的國家公園年票後管理員就直接示意我們進入，全程不用三秒鐘，想不透為何有些人三分鐘還過不去。 車輛眾多，果斷放棄遊客中心前的停車場，停往較遠的教育中心。非常幸運，剛好搶到唯一的位子，接著走回遊客中心，搭上雙節公車{3}前往最後一站--Temple of Sinawava{1}。 Temple of Sinawava是由Virgin river雕刻而成的峽谷{4}，下車可走Riverside Walk到Virgin river邊，水淺時可沿著溪而上到達The Narrows。我們造訪時溪水仍高，雖無緣走往深處，但也可體驗一下冰涼的溪水{5}。 原本以為經過六天後會對美景產生視覺疲勞，但其實每天的景色都各有特色，偶爾還會有一些驚喜，就像去程偶遇步道邊的小鹿{6}，及回程高掛天空的日暈{7}。 自然景觀行程在此正式結束，回到聖喬治小鎮吃了傳說中的In-N-Out，到郵局花四十分鐘寄明信片，便驅車上I-15直奔拉斯維加斯。在高速公路途中又從一片峽谷中穿越，為Virgin River Gorge。Virgin river 不但切出Zion，在亞利桑納州也有如此傑作。 過了峽谷進入內華達州，便是一望無際的平地。眾車速度飛快，平均車速大概90mph起跳。我們在車裡唱著歌，平穩地順著車流前進。必須再稱讚2020-21年式的Ford Expedition Max{8}從外觀到操控都很不賴，現在路上遇到還會看幾眼充滿設計感的尾燈光條。（每系列封面的Day.X就是其車側剪影，不知道有多少人發現） 到了拉斯維加斯，趁著Outlet關門前兩小時由旅伴領頭衝進去，一股熟悉的城市感湧現，才感覺旅程真的到了尾聲。晚上探索這座知名賭城，但無論賭城大道多繁華，人造的建築多麼浮誇{9}，總覺得還是比不上這六天一路上的鬼斧神工{10}。 隔天一早，送台灣的旅伴們到機場，轉了幾把手氣不怎樣的吃角子老虎，還了相處了一個禮拜的Expedition Max，便搭上回聖路易的飛機，繼續小留學生的研究生活。 毫無疑問地，這是一場成功的公路旅行。一場好的旅程從事前規劃到旅行途中，甚至旅行後的回顧，旅伴都扮演著很重要的角色。曾聽朋友說過對一個地方的印象會因為跟不同人去而有不同的感覺，也看過一些原來要好的朋友在旅途回來後不歡而散，更顯得在整段旅程中完全契合的旅伴，實在得來不易。 對於好旅伴的特徵，相信一堆旅遊網誌或專頁都已有好幾篇文章，但在這趟旅途回頭看來我覺得更重要的，是隨機應變的能力；而在這之上最重要的，則是替別人著想的能力。一趟旅程只要有一個會隨機應變的旅伴，問題就得以迎刃而解；但只要有一個沒有同理心的旅伴，就容易毀掉整個行程。 所幸至今由我主導的旅程中，旅伴們相處起來都相當舒服、替人著想，在旅程中多了不少暖心時刻。而這些旅程在我的留學生活中增添了幾分色彩，讓我學習到美國各地更多面向，也讓我一次又一次，期待著── 下一次的旅程。 《 [美西之旅特輯] 全篇完 》 #templeofsinawava #zionnationalpark

The Temple of Sinawava was looking as majestic as ever today surrounded by peak fall colors here in Zion National Park, Utah. I hand-held my iPhone 15 Pro Max just a few inches above the Virgin River and used the 1x camera for a 48MP RAW file. The Reeflex app allowed me to manually control the exposure to avoid any blown out highlights. Rebecca & Thomas decided to elope completely on their own at sunrise in Zion National Park. This was such a beautiful & peaceful morning in the park and despite it being absolutely freezing, we had so much fun exploring. In the state of Utah, you need two witnesses and luckily as soon as we got on the shuttle to their ceremony location, a couple offered to be witnesses at the wedding!!
