I havenโt posted since a while, first due to my ongoing health situation and second because Instagram was requiring updates to access my account๐ so as a result I didnโt post about this gorgeous cardigan we started on, that made heads turn for the first time @institutflorimont Christmas and is finally available in Geneva. While my decent into hell at @hug_ge where they removed half of my breast for no reason as tumor had already metastasized. This operation which I was reluctant to have from the start caused me a lot of pain and trauma as a result of this stress my wound still did not recoverโฆ. If one day you have cancer, they will make you shit in your pants, saying you have this or that much to live and that you have to act fast before you die, donโt believe a word they sayโฆ they said I have one year to live last year if I didnโt take their treatment and here I am. ๐ THE COMPOST REVOLUTION ๐ Hello ๐ we are Marion and Alexis and we converted an ex school bus into a tiny home and office on wheels to meet cafe owners in regional and rural areas and chat to them about composting! So happy about how this first trip went in the @eyrepeninsula ! Here are some of our results so far. We visited 4 sustainability champions already leading the way (aka using our certified home compostable products) ๐ช and 15 cafes to better equip them with education around composting. Part of the resistance faced with entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship to a greater extent in Syria and later in Switzerland is the thought that people have about liberal activities and business in general and that is if you are doing it itโs because you can afford itโฆ this thinking is wrong on many different levels because from the beginning to the end we could not afford it rather like in any project of the heart the way is not clear in the beginning, you have to walk the path for the path to reveal itself. Second, giving and sharing do not occur according to what you have but rather according to what you are, as a tree does not think before it gives, it just gives, and it does not think before it provides shelter it just is, the same with a bird it does not think before it eats the fruit of a tree it just eats, as giving and taking are the same they are not based on the belief of scarcity, separation, fear and death which are the opposite of life and godโs creation. Cafes owners need more guidance when it comes to compostable packaging. How many times have we met cafes owners and packaging distributors (or sales team!) who had no ideas if their product was home or commercially compostable. They could not identify them. This question takes a new dimension now coffee cups and lids are banned in WA and soon SA. Compostable packaging are only suitable if they are composted. And not all compostable packaging can be composted in your garden. In fact, most cannot. If cafes owners do not ask the right questions to their suppliers, they often end up with products that cannot be composted in their local council and end up in landfill. And overall, those products have a higher price tag than their plastic predecessors. This is exactly what we are seeing and trying to change in the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. @eyrepeninsula does not have access to commercial composting, yet many cafes offer T/A coffees or food in commercially compostable packaging as an โeco-friendlyโ alternative and in line with the upcoming ban. We think this is a big problem as it doesnโt reduce the amount to packaging that end up in landfill. As part of the Compost Revolution, we aim to raise awareness on suitable alternatives and how to make sure those alternatives end up in the right bin for maximum waste recovery.
