Junior Friday night, BBQ, camping and more sailing the next day. Starcross Juniors enjoyed a BBQ after sailing last Friday night on the most glorious May evening. After sailing the children played with a football in the river, and as the evening rolled on tents were put up in the dinghy park. Allegedly some adults stayed up drinking lemonade well into the night! The sun brought the Juniors out early from their tents on Saturday morning for more sailing, many tried new boats, sailed with their friends or were taken out for joyrides with instructors. Working alongside Out There Living we had an exciting new installation this morning as the sun came out from behind the mist. A detailed spec came from the client wanting to shade their decking area at the end of the garden. A tiki bar combined with a nautical theme and a super easy to install tensioning system made this project a little more complex than usual. The addition of a yacht winch, some blocks and a touch of splicing adds the Nautical touch while looking out over the estuary. We chose Commercial 95 shade fabric from Kayospruce Ltd to provide excellent shade and durability while giving the Tiki Bar feel. Our membership Secretary and a keen RS400 sailor is Sarah Peat. Sarah’s been particularly busy recently with membership renewals, a busy role all year round as Sarah is one of the first contacts for new member’s enquiries helping the application process. Sarah maintains accurate and up to date membership and contact records for present and past members on the club's administration system as well as distributing membership and berthing renewal notices. Sarah’s role also includes liaising with Berth marshal, Treasurer, Cruiser secretary and Junior secretary regarding relevant subscriptions, checking that new and renewing membership payments are paid directly into the club’s bank. Sarah really enjoys the role, particularly getting to know many members and you’ll often see Sarah on and off the water with husband Steve who is our Berth Marshal. #starcrossyachtclub #riverexe .
