#ACTales PANTHEON Costruito nel 27-25 a.C. a Roma da Marco Vipsanio Agrippa, tempo dopo la battaglia di Azio, che ne affidò la realizzazione a Lucio Cocceio Aucto, il Pantheon venne dedicato a tutti gli dei di Roma. Nel 126, venne ricostruito per volere dell'imperatore Adriano, poiché due incendi avevano danneggiato la costruzione originale. Come tanti altri edifici storici romani venne bruciato, ricostruito, modificato, devastato e ristrutturato così tante volte da contenere all'interno una miriade di icone e simboli contrastanti. Successivamente, nel 608, l'imperatore bizantino Foca donò il Pantheon a papa Bonifacio IV, il quale l'anno dopo decise di trasformarlo in una chiesa, consacrandolo a basilica con il nome di Santa Maria ad Martyres o Santa Maria della Rotonda. Ciò salvò l'edificio dall'abbandono e dal saccheggio che, invece, subirono numerosi edifici di origine romana nel corso dei secoli. Riconosciuto per la sua meraviglia architettonica, il Pantheon vanta ancora oggi la più ampia cupola di cemento non rinforzato al mondo, sebbene sia in piedi da quasi duemila anni. Inoltre, è anche famosa per l'"oculus", il foro al centro della cupola che rappresenta l'unica fonte di luce dell'immensa sala.[1] Infatti, sia il suo nome che il suo stile non fecero altro che ispirare nel tempo la costruzione di altre chiese simili in Europa, in particolare un secondo Panthéon situato a Parigi, in Francia. Here are 1,000 reasons to visit The Pantheon early in the morning - just swipe right. We actually arrived at 7:45 AM thinking it would be overrun with tourists after what we’d seen at Trevi Fountain, but it was empty and completely serene. An amazing experience to soak in the ancient wonder with only a handful of other people around. That same day, we passed The Pantheon again on our way to lunch. I was absolutely floored by the crowds. What a difference four hours can make. 😵💫
