Today marks 3yrs since I moved to Sydney & what a journey itβs been! I didnβt give too much thought to what a massive step it is to pack up your life in one country and move to another in your mid 30s. Well, until recently anyway, when over the last few months in therapy I was confronted with all of the emotions I hadnβt acknowledged properly. When I moved here in 2021, I was excited for a new life but scared and apprehensive. I didnβt like Sydney at first. In fact, itβs taken me the best part of the last 2yrs to really start enjoying my life here. I moved here for a guy. But I was lonely. In the middle of lockdown, I had to pick up the pieces of a broken engagement & keep on building a life here - trying to make a home in this city. It wasnβt easy to do. Itβs taken me 3yrs to truly come to terms with what this city has given me. It gave me heartbreak but itβs also helping me heal in the most beautiful way. Itβs given me true independence, a freedom Iβve craved all my life, genuine connections, an opportunity to follow my passion. Recently, Iβve felt restless. This is the longest Iβve lived in one place since I left home in 2010! But deep down, I know this is where I want to be. Slowly but surely, the journey which had an incredibly difficult start is turning into one of my most authentic ones. Have you seen one of these? I think itβs so cute! Triboniophorus Graefei also known as Red Triangle Slug Australiaβs largest native terrestrial slug, this one was about 7cm long. I put my finger next to it for scale. They can grow up to 14cm long. Best place to see one of these is a nice canopy of sclerophyll forest, with plenty of natural mulch, rocks and smooth tree trunks. It loves to eat microscopic algae and mould. Our first national park camp ground proved to be a winner. The stunning Apsley gorge doesnβt look half as good in photos than it does in real life. When we first seen the gorge we all were wowed. The amount of history in this place and things we learnt amount the native animals of the area beat any day in the classroom! We also spotted some furry and feathered friends, with the local animals not being shy to come up and say hello. We were bummed, we didnβt spot a platypus. Renewal and upgrade complete at Ebor Falls! ππ·ββοΈ Our team have been hard at work rebuilding and upgrading the Ebor Falls visitor precinct in #GuyFawkesRiverNationalPark after it was destroyed in the 2019/20 bushfires. We have rebuilt the fire-impacted infrastructure, found just off New Englandβs Waterfall Way, to include 4 spectacular lookouts that overlook one of the stateβs most stunning waterfalls and gorges. Weβve made it accessible for as many people as possible, including those who use wheelchairs or have limited mobility. There is now direct, flat access from the newly upgraded carparks to new, wide paths connecting the picnic facilities, amenities, and platforms to view the Guy Fawkes River gorge. As part of the upgrade we have installed new shelters, flushing toilets and free gas BBQs. This $5.5 million project is one of the larger #NSWParks visitor infrastructure investments in the New England and Northern Tablelands to date, and it wouldnβt be possible without the tireless work of NPWS staff, contractors, and the assistance of the local community. A big thanks to everyone who made it to the opening event on Saturday which included a guided tour, smoking ceremony and sausage sizzle. This year I am celebrating my birthday at the @qstation and doing the @quarantineghosttours with friends . Can't wait. This has been on my bucket list for a long time . Found out about this place from TV show interviewing the park ranger on how haunted this place is many many years ago. I finally got to this place 9 years ago and did the Ghost Tour and it was a great tour . This time I am actually staying here and doing the Ghost tour . I went in as a sceptic but came out ,yeap this place is really haunted . Let's just say I have another date with the graveyard digger .
