He was a very good dancer This 4ft x4ft print is a tribute to northern soul music and is a personal favourite. For people unfamiliar with northern soul this is a generic term for the up tempo mostly black American soul music from the 60s and 70s that was played in some of the industrialised regions in the north and midlands of England . When i first heard this music it was as if it had fallen straight from heaven , as it was so different from mainstream British music music, punctuated by an uplifting driving dance beat and brilliant musicality that explored the highs and lows of what it is to be a human being. The scene was marked by very energetic dancing at all-nighter’s that I first went to aged 16 starting a love of the music that is still alive today. I made this print in about the year 2000 as a celebration of this vibrant and electrifying music that still gives cold chills when ever I walk into a soul venue. Its based around condensed memories my friends most of whom are still alive and still dancing . The central figure is inspired by one of the one of the most phenomenal dancers ive ever seen , and the all around him I tried to compose the picture using rhythmical arrangements of dynamic dancing arms and legs punctuated by patterns inspired by African textiles . #woodcutprint #northernsoul #northernsouldancing #printmaking

One aspect about #RAVE: "Past" forward into the Phuture! That was sometime in the early #nineties when this record reached me as a NETWORK PRESS writer via the Berlin #EFA Distribution Promotion Department (Kati Schwind & Uwe Reinecke). The Acid/303-laden #SummerOfLove" had been over the top since D.Mob's "We Call It Acid". And #Balearic as the new #House / #Techno hype seemed to go just as quickly as it came. But RAVE as an irresistible synonym for partying at breakneck dance speed (coming from its #NorthernSoul and #Mods allnighter roots) still continued to preserve itself, just like House and Techno, as the reinvention of yesterday's dance music. And, for example, found its new playing grounds in continental Europe that spread beyond the UK, such as #LoveParade, @Tekknozid, and, subsequently, #Mayday in Berlin. Mr. Monday's "Future" represented the attitude of life for a new generation of dancers and clubbers, who quickly shed social boundaries. And turned everything previously known in club sound structures on its head. Synthetic bleeps mixed over a stompin' Techno beat with uplifting #RaveSignals, which could also evoke drug-related associations at any time. “Future” itself became a new surge of tracks that transformed 88/89 rave nostalgia into contemporary, disturbed, euphoric sound futurism. Painter of the Horizons concept Im a Paintographer I paint with light Camera is my brush Colors..such a nice side effect Je suis Paintographer Je peins avec la lumière L'appareil photo est mon pinceau Les couleurs... un bel effet secondaire n February 2021, I made a trip to the Finnish archipelago where the light of the ice fields of the Jurmo Islands gave me a deep emotional experience known as the “Stendahl Syndrome” This idea of dreamscapes appeared to me. I came home. In the Finnish language there is a saying called Taivaanrannan Maalari. The Painter of The Horizons. It means that a person is a dreamer. All my horizons are based on the light of the archipelago of South-West Finland, from early spring to late autumn. I capture them on a boat while we enjoy the phenomena of the nordic light fields with my friends. En février 2021, j'ai fait un voyage au plus profond de l'archipel finlandais. La lumière des champs de glace des îles Jurmo m'a fait vivre une expérience émotionnelle profonde connue sous le nom de "syndrome de Stendahl". Cette idée de partager ma vision de paysages de rêves est apparue. Et je suis rentré chez moi. En finnois, il existe un dicton qui s'appelle "Taivaanrannan Maalari". "Le peintre des horizons". Il signifie qu'une personne est un rêveur. Tous mes horizons sont basés sur la lumière de l'archipel du sud-ouest de la Finlande, du début du printemps à la fin de l'automne. Je les capte sur un bateau alors que nous profitons du phénomène des champs de lumière nordique avec des amis... Je connais deux expériences qui sont profondément ancrées dans l'âme humaine et qui nous apportent confort et sécurité. Regarder les horizons et les feux de camp. A travers mon art des horizons, je veux partager ce sentiment.
