BUT, when you live in a magical place surrounded by ocean AND are head over heels in love with the most beautiful human on the planet who absolutely loves hiking, you get over yourself. I love her, and I love our routine of hitting the Skerwink trail in Port Rexton, then hitting up @portrextonbrew and @ohmycheeses . The non-alcoholic lemonade is particularly great. More thanks to @theperfectpresentationnl for more @partridge_hooks samples brought back from England. This time, it seems they tried an all-in-one model and soldered gold beads straight on to some hooks. They were fun to play around with and worked quite nicely on some Minkies and Minkie Beadhead Muddlers. The hook was probably a touch too small for pine-squirrel zonkers, but these will fish fine. And you can tie a micro-bugger on anything. As Canada’s weather capital, St. John’s, NL is known as a bit of a mash-up champion. Last evening, we had one such combo of fog and wind! The wind was howling as the sun began to set. With a bit of patience ( and lots of shots), I got Cabot Tower on one of the few seconds it was visible between gusts. The rainbow fog was a bonus!!!

DICTUM FACTUM: This batch of pearl Cormorants and size 12 pearl Sea-trout flies (someone has to name this damn thing), completes @ecghilliesguiding's sea-trout selection for @atlanticriversoutfittingco. These are pretty much the only flies we tie for retail sale, but this winter I tied well over 1000 for AROC and that's enough for me. Now I have to tie more Sea-Trout, trout, and Atlantic salmon flies for guiding... somewhere along the line I might manage a couple for my own boxes. The @partridge_hooks G3A/L hook is such a great hook for these small sea-trout patterns.
