Last weekend, we celebrated the wonderful feast of Pentecost! The day when we recall the Holy Spirit coming upon the Apostles and filling their hearts with zeal and courage and many other gifts! This reception of the Spirit enabled them to go forth and spread Jesus’ message of love. Mary, the mother of Jesus, must have been very instrumental in the life of this early Church. She believed and she lived out her belief. She gave the apostles courage to keep going when they would have had the faltering moments that are part of any growing group. She must have been a real wisdom figure for the early Church. We are living at a time when wisdom figures are really needed. Church attendance is dropping off…many people do not see any need to come to Church and others are disheartened and have no desire to worship as a Community of Faith Yet, we believe that the Spirit of God is alive and active and we are called to live out our faith commitment. Pope Francis, I believe, is giving a new face to the church and is trying to bring in new life—so, let’s do all we can to live out our faith. In this month of May, let’s ask Mary to help us to be ‘elders’ who show by word and example that they believe in God’s love and KNOW that this love is at work in our world. We MUST bring the GOOD NEWS! Bring hope to this world –day by day, in the little ways that we can do it… living out the commandment of love of God and love of neighbor -- loving ourselves also in a healthy way -- believing that God created us –each of us uniquely—and so each of us has what I call a ‘facet of God’s Love’ to bring to our world! May Mary help us to do this as faithfully as she did in her time her on earth. T H A N K G O D F O R M O T H E R S 💗 May is the month of Mary & in thanksgiving for all mothers… it’s too easy to remember what our parents failed to do or failed in doing- focusing on the negative traits & to go as far as to hold grudges against those who brought us into this world. We can’t deny the wrong they’ve done, but we can’t look at their mistakes without also having empathy for what they went through- their own traumas & temperament struggles. Our Lord says, “honor thy father & thy mother…” This doesn’t mean you can’t set boundaries or that you have to do whatever they tell you even when it’s sinful. But rather it means to have compassion and mercy. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy…” Nothing good ever comes out of holding grudges. If not all times, when we learn of someone’s background we can understand why they have the habits & thoughts they do. I encourage you to show mercy regardless of what you know of a person. When you’re reminded of something bad of a person, immediately think of something good about them. P R A C T I C I N G T H E F A I T H Whenever during the rest of May your mother annoys or frustrates or upsets you, think of the wonderful things she’s done, either for you for for someone else. Think about the moments in which you think were bad memories of her & think of the fruits which came from those memories/events. You will find that by doing this that you are starting to think like Jesus. May God bless you & your mother! H A P P Y M O T H E R S D A Y !

I’ve always embraced motherhood as an adventure! 💛💙💙💛💙 💛 There was a time in my life I wasn’t sure if it was going to happen for me, so when it did I welcomed it with open arms. I am by far not the perfect mother. I don’t always show the patience or grace needed, I easily get frustrated and can sometimes loose my temper. If I am being totally honest it’s one thing I really don’t like about myself. With May being the month of Mary our Blessed Mother, I look to her a lot for guidance. She is by far the best mother to seek when I am falling short. The grace, love and ability to give without question is what makes her the perfect example. Our children seek us when things are out of their control for a reason. We are their safe space. A place to go for unconditional love, support and grace. So if you are anything like me, I challenge you to seek out the example of our Heavenly Mother.
