Sometimes taking a stylized, sculptural approach to creating molecules based loosely on their molecular structures is best. This image shows three views of an immunoglubulin/antibody molecule. Detailed Protein Data Bank molecules are fantastic but for some uses they can be overkill. The important thing is to explain what they are doing! Day 3 with Covid. Still feeling crappy. Had the antibody infusion yesterday. They said that takes 48 hours to kick in. I chose to have the infusion versus taking paxlovid. Hope I made the right decision. Know a couple who had great results with the infusion and two Pharmacists recommended it based on what they heard from customers. The infusion is no longer FDA approved. A new cocktail came out in February called Bebtelovimab Monoclonal antibody infusion therapy which is administered through an IV. I am lucky as there is one clinic near to where I am right now which outside of Orlando that is offering it. They are operating under the EUA Emergency Use Authority guidelines. There was a lovely and very informative doctor there. They even gave each patient a new pulse oximeter to take to Monitor ourselves. I would love to hear from you if you had/have Covid and if so if you did any of the treatments offered. Oh, I had my second booster - Moderna last Tuesday and woke up on Sunday with Covid. Round 2!! Covid strikes again! This time mama is down for the count. Tested positive yesterday on New Years Day. I was given a steroid shot and told to call my rheumatologist to get the monoclonal antibody infusion. And here I am the next morning first in line at the Infusion Center. I feel very fortunate my rheumatologist was able to get me in so quickly as there is a shortage. He really is the best there is!! Hoping this helps relieve some of these symptoms and keeps me from getting worse. 🙏🏻 Ya’ll I know so many affected by Covid right now! Bravo! Recently our team celebrated their 500th monoclonal antibody infusion. Since December, an incredible team of frontline healthcare providers and critical behind the scenes staff at Baystate Noble Hospital have come together to develop and implement an effective program of antibody infusions for patients across the state. Recently they treated their 500th patient. The antibody treatment may help the body’s immune system to combat the deadly SARSCoV-2, the virus behind COVID-19. Monoclonal antibodies are laboratory-made proteins that mimic the immune system’s ability to fight off harmful pathogens such as viruses. These antibodies are specifically directed against the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 designed to block the virus’ attachment and entry into human cells. Dr. Armando Paez, chief of the Infectious Disease Division at Baystate Medical Center, who also heads the Baystate COVID Monoclonal Antibody Infusion (MAI) Team, noted he was ecstatic in December to learn that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) had approved the hospital to provide the novel treatment to eligible COVID-19 patients in western Massachusetts. He noted not all hospitals are equipped to administer monoclonal antibody therapy, which is a complicated, time-consuming process that requires detailed attention and follow up from highly-skilled professionals. “Our work would not have been as successful from an operational standpoint without the effort of an amazing group of dedicated individuals working behind the scenes on the screening, scheduling, treatment and follow up of these patients,” said Dr. Paez. Day 6 - Little big brother dropped off flowers, 🥰and for some crazy reason he didn't want a hug, or even tell me he was here! 🤷♀️ Infusion treatment is doing me well, it now feels like a bad chest/head cold, still get winded and tired easy, but the muscle/joint aches are gone (those where the worst)! Listening to my body and just resting (I don't sit well). I still can't taste or smell. But my fever broke, so that's good! I've also determined that I would not do well in jail, minimum security or not, the warden here is kinda bossy too! 😏. So it’s been a week since I came up positive for Covid. What a week! This is my best to recap my #covidstories On 8/12 I got my second dose of #moderna that night I felt chills, body ache and fever. By the middle of Friday I was ok, but mid day Saturday was feeling worn down and had back pain. I made an appointment at urgent care for Sunday morning thinking it was a kidney issue again. Sunday I was sent home positive for #covid_19 told to get the #monoclonalantibodyinfusion I was given an appointment for Thursday (8/19) From Sunday to Thursday I experienced high fevers, up to 103.8, chills, body aches/pain, burning in my sinuses, cough, congestion, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, severe headache and chest pain. On Thursday 8/19 I was hoping to document my experience with monoclonal antibody treatment, instead after finishing and waiting in recovery to be discharged, things got very scary. My blood pressure was very low and I started shaking and having chills. The chills lead to a intense feeling of pressure. This lead to me being held to be given more iv fluids and then later an ambulance was called to bring me to the near by ER. I was given Benadryl and more iv fluids and then released. They said it was an allergic reaction. But this has happened 4 more times since Thursday. It starts with chills, I feel like I can’t stop shaking and then intense pressure all over. I see lots of people having different reactions to these things and I’m not sure what happened to me, I don’t know if mine was covid related or from my infusion. It’s been a week of covid and my fever is gone, but the body aches, fatigue, cough, congestion and headache still remain. I can’t say if the infusion made much of a difference as since Thursday and Friday really were my worst days, but i will say, you don’t want this and you need to take this seriously. #wearamask #youdontwanttheseproblems #covidvacccine
