❌Το εμβόλιο Covid της AstraZeneca αποσύρεται παγκοσμίως, μήνες αφότου ο φαρμακευτικός κολοσσός παραδέχθηκε για πρώτη φορά σε δικαστικά έγγραφα ότι μπορεί να προκαλέσει μια σπάνια και επικίνδυνη παρενέργεια. Η αίτηση απόσυρσης του εμβολίου υποβλήθηκε στις 5 Μαρτίου και τέθηκε σε ισχύ την Τρίτη. 🛑Το Vaxzevria έχει βρεθεί υπό έντονο έλεγχο τους τελευταίους μήνες λόγω μιας πολύ σπάνιας παρενέργειας, η οποία προκαλεί θρόμβους αίματος και χαμηλό αριθμό αιμοπεταλίων στο αίμα. Σύμφωνα με ανεξάρτητες εκτιμήσεις, πάνω από 6,5 εκατομμύρια ζωές σώθηκαν μόνο κατά το πρώτο έτος χρήσης και πάνω από τρία δισεκατομμύρια δόσεις χορηγήθηκαν παγκοσμίως. Καθώς έκτοτε έχουν αναπτυχθεί πολλαπλά, παραλλαγμένα εμβόλια Covid-19, υπάρχει πλεόνασμα διαθέσιμων επικαιροποιημένων εμβολίων. Αυτό έχει οδηγήσει σε μείωση της ζήτησης για το Vaxzevria, το οποίο δεν παρασκευάζεται και δεν προμηθεύεται πλέον.
