Do NOT get FOGGED 🙅🏼♀️ In a time of such extreme disconnection from our true selves and our true nature, there is A LOT of performance going on out there. This pattern of performance is pervasive in many areas of our lives and dating is no exception. It has been interesting to witness myself in dating the last year and really notice the places where I get fogged and have trouble seeing the man I am dating clearly. After years of choosing men who treated me like shit, when I come across a man who opens doors, pays for dates, takes charge, makes plans, holds my hand, etc etc I tend to make this assumption that those actions are an indication that they have the same intentions in dating that I do (which at this point in my life is sacred partnership, marriage, and babies). However, performative chivalry and mature masculinity are not the same thing. And opening car doors is absolutely no indication that they want a divine union with any woman or that they are any more interested in pursuing something serious with me vs the next woman they open the door for on a date. It is my responsibility to stay in my center and not get swept up in the performance of masculinity. I cannot let fantasy come in. I must be responsible for my desire and communicate that clearly. I must be willing to leave immediately when it is clear that their intentions do not match mine. The truth is, those performative acts mean virtually nothing to me. There are a million and one things that are more important to me in a potential partner than whether or not they open the door, pull out my chair, or bring the car around. But I also do not want to become hardened and I want to remain open to receiving these gestures from a man who is also has aligned intentions, vision, and values. This is mainly a note to self and an open journal entry. I can FEEL myself doing things so differently in dating now and it feels so good. The mature feminine is coming online within me more and more with each encounter. My desire is so clear. I can feel it in the depths of my soul. But maybe this reminder can help you, as well. Unequivocal truth: We are the sole navigators of our emotional journey! Have you ever found yourself blaming others when you're p*issed off and angry? It's convenient to fault others, yet the reality is, our emotions and triggers are entirely our own responsibility. This doesn`t mean we are consciously choosing to be triggered, or that there is something wrong with us. It doesn’t help to blame ourselves either. 👣I recently walked along the Way of San Francesco in Italy for five days. During this journey, I thought a lot about shortcuts.🃏 🏔As I walked up a very steep path with my heavy backpack, I wondered why I had chosen this tough journey. I could have taken a bus or hitchhiked at any time to make things easier. But then I asked myself, what would I miss if I took the easy way? ✴In our society of instant gratification, we're conditioned to seek quick fixes when faced with obstacles. For example, instead of dealing with our feelings, we might spend a lot of time on social media. Or when we want to lose weight fast, we might try trendy diets. We might also delay making important decisions. However, life has taught me that shortcuts often rob us of valuable lessons. When we choose the easy way, we miss chances to grow and become stronger. Facing challenges helps us become better at handling tough times. But if we always take shortcuts, we won't learn these important skills. Also, always looking for shortcuts can make us settle for less. Instead of aiming for greatness, we might be okay with just being okay. Making progress and coming up with new ideas needs hard work and facing challenges. If we always look for shortcuts, we won't reach our full potential. 🔹That's why I like to walk. It gives me a break from my usual routine and helps me reconnect with myself. When I face challenges on the walk, I learn new things about myself and the world. Reverse engineer a problem like being taken out of Context - and you’ll find at the source is someone who’s limited in their own understanding of the world and can only interpret it through their basic perspective. Knowing this, one must remain calm, patient, compassionate enough to understand another persons opinion of them is simply a projected response from the individuals own vantage point - which is a culmination of their Life’s experiential path. 💢Fear and uncertainty are natural parts of being human. When we face something new or unpredictable, it's common to feel afraid or anxious. However, it's important to realize that fear often comes from not being comfortable with uncertainty. Within myself, I often feel the need for stability and certainty. Whenever something new comes my way, I notice this resistance to change inside me. But life has taught me, sometimes not gently, that this fear was stopping me from truly experiencing life. I decided to confront my fear and see uncertainty as an adventure. Instead of avoiding challenges, I started seeing them as opportunities to learn and discover more about myself. Stepping out of my comfort zone became easier as I changed my perspective. Nowadays, I don't let fear control me. Yesterday at Gahr HS we had practice and there were two dudes who forgot to suit up and come with pants. They penalized the Team by making everyone RUN as a consequence. At the end of practice, both players were put front and center to Own up to their mistake. They apologized and said it won’t happen again. You could feel the #fear creep in.. but both myself and my partner stood at their sides and behind them to allow them the Space to do what they needed to do and be held #Accountable by the entire Team. This is what #TeamBuilding looks and feels like.. this uncomfortable space where someone fuccs up and you hold them accountable to their actions. TRUTH and 2. ACCOUNTABILITY” He told me that back in June of 2011 when I attended my first Men’s Team meeting. I can remember it like it was yesterday. What is a “Men’s Team,” you may ask? To some it’s a support group.. to others it’s a Band of Brothers from other Mothers who are willing to take off their masks and reveal their Truth to one another in order to help each other work on all the challenges we face daily, as Men.
