Many doors to the forest underground. This piece is inspired from my recent trip to sir Lanka. So many root systems out there form stairways that take you further and further on your path. We followed them for hours and hours up and down mountains. It was like being taken into a magical woodland lead secretly by a bunch of elves, I was expecting another world at any point! To be fair it was another world. Sri Lanka is truly a beautiful place to go. Eagles were circling us at all points by the sea or on the land. Has been the trip of a life time in terms of inspiration and freedom and travel and love. I completed my latest mixed media (oil paint, mica powder and paint brush bristles) painting over the weekend titled "Hope" and it will be the showpiece of my upcoming solo exhibition. Measuring 36"x48"x1.5", it is definitely the biggest painting I have created so far! This painting was inspired by an amazing scene that I witnessed while driving to my Turkey Point cottage. The sky was full of clouds but some sunlight managed to peek through the dense clouds and magically shined on a silo, and it gave me a feeling of hope! Here is a peek at part of the painting. The show comes down on April 1st. “Dreams and Imaginings” portrays a world infused with magic and light, where I explore the night sky, salute the full moon, honor the ancient impulse to worship the stars, and find galaxies beyond our vision. The night sky and the expanse of the universe have always amazed and inspired me, but in recent years, they came to mean more. Following a profound loss, I faced daunting responsibilities alone. Each night before bed, I’d steal a few minutes outside to look at the stars. Through long anxious nights, moonlight streamed across my bed and kept me company. The night sky filled me with gratitude and helped me to carry on with life. More sacred objects than photographs, these images are an offering of wonder and grace.
