Roman Holiday walked so that Loyally Luke could run. And oh boy, DID THIS BOOK EVER WIN THE RACE! It's your not-so-typical romance about a country boy meeting an undercover royal... and I truly mean it. It's not as typical as the others, even with Penelope's jokes about romantic cliches making their ways onto the page. Pepper makes an age-old trope appear as sparkly as a tiara, and I must ask, what is there not to love about this book? The whit and banter of flannel donning Luke paired with baggy sweatered Ellie in the first lines of their meeting had me rooting for them. I've loved Luke from the first book in the Edgewood series, and it was great to finally see him meet his match in the form of this frustratingly beautiful woman with a past. I also really enjoyed Ellie as a new character. I might be biased because I share a name with the female character, so inserting myself into her shoes wasn't too hard. While nor in the public eye, I did struggle with a past of mine that haunted me for a good while. The questions Ellie asked and her cautious nature made her a character that felt immensely relatable, and I often found myself forgetting that she was a royal. (No offense, I also share Luke's disdain towards the obsession over royals - with a hint of Penelope's curiosity towards them.🤣) I enjoyed watching the two of them navigate issues of the heart, devotions to family, tiptoeing around the struggles that come with the trials presented around them. However, it was great to see that Luke and Ellie were not entirely front and center. The other characters and their stories were woven so intricately into the overall arching story that it blended, well, splendidly. Especially with how well it did so without downplaying how important the two main characters were. I'm very particular when it comes to books, but three books into the Edgewood family series, and I'm still sold on Pepper Basham's talent. Her ability to float between characters, feelings, and let's not forget... the average way of bouncing from formatting a book to writing in text format and still keeping ones attention just showcases such a unique talent. Well worth the read!

That One Time in California is the third book in @authorellabeachley’s fabulous That One Time series. I absolutely loved my visits to Hawaii and Oregon so I was super excited to visit California! This story features the oldest heroine and I really enjoyed reading about someone my age. It was a beautiful story that didn’t shy away from the tough parts of life, and I loved seeing Jill getting a second chance at love. Burke was sweet and charming, and his son Grant was a delightful surprise. I also enjoyed meeting Jill’s family in California and seeing Nat & Joel and Kate & Luca again. So many funny moments with this group! As always, lots of time at the beach, beautiful sunsets, and swoony moments. A perfect summer read! Huge thanks to the author for the ARC. I need help from my Booksta friends! I’m walking through some hard spaces of life and could use some hope-filled reads. I do not mean light-hearted necessarily, but finished with just utter hope - even if the journey is super hard. Fiction stories (yes, romance haha) are great. I’m also open to non-fiction Christian living style books, BUT one that could be read in small doses, doesn’t require super deep thinking or is overly cliche. I LOVED this book! Suspenseful and funny with the perfect amount of romance! In A Time for Shariton Park by @authorchristinemwalter 2012 meets 1808! Celeste is being chased by a man until she finds herself rescued by a gentleman from the regency time period. Celeste puts all her knowledge of the regency era to the test as she tries to blend in. I loved Celeste and Charles! I loved the tension between them and I loved experiencing the regency time period from the perspective of a present day time traveler. Such a fun read! Do you like knowing ahead of time or going in blind? (Really—I’m asking! Let me know in the comments!) That One Time in California isn’t super trope-filled, which is how I love it. I purposely didn’t share too much about tropes before the launch because tropes don’t make a book. They’re just little components of the overall whole. And sometimes I’ve gone into a book (as a reader) excited for a promised trope and it’s fallen flat or hardly been a part of the plot line. When that happens, it makes me think about the book differently than if I had just gone in blind. I've been a writer for as long as I can remember. For a long time, I struggled to enjoy my own stories. I don't know if I was writing them to cater to a specific audience or if I was too self-critical, but it was difficult for me to go back and read my own work. Now that I write for myself as the audience, I haven't had that problem. I love my stories and characters. They won't work for everyone and that's OK. There is always room for improvement and I will continue to work on my writing and storytelling, but I will also continue to love these stories that I've written. I’m so excited for everyone to have a chance to read this book by @madelynsmithauthor on May 16th!! I loved this book! It was funny and sweet. I loved Cars as a kid. This book took that movie and made it even better! Alex is a big shot movie star who wrecks his car and ends up with amnesia in a small town in Oregon. Reina is the local soccer coach/school nurse who helps him try to figure out who he is. I enjoyed the writing style and the love story. It was sweet and pure with kisses only. I love how respectful Alex is of Reina and the boundaries they set. Madelyn does a great job in bring up religion in a natural way! “I’ve got this (fake) boyfriend who plays on the team. I’m wearing his jersey.” “Turn around and let me see.” “If this is just an excuse to check out my butt, I’m fake breaking up with you.” “Summer. Let me see my name.” What is it about the hockey trope and a “show me my name” jersey moment that just hits all the feels? I’m not sure, but I am here for it and this scene in Romancing the Grump by @jennyproctorbooks definitely gave me all 😍🫠🔥. I really enjoyed this new hockey romance. Jenny is such a talented writer and I love how her writing is so smooth that I don’t even notice the time passing or pages turning (the finger swipe of the ebook reader doesn’t even register), the story is just too good; I was fully engaged. This story was full of many romcom golden nuggets; fake dating, grumpy/sunshine, protector, caring for a sick MC, one bed, and of course, a hot hockey hero. That being said, Jenny brought her own spin to everything and I particularly liked how even though they may have been faking things, this book didn’t have any of the miscommunication and true uncertainty that often attends that kind of relationship. Summer owned her reasons and Nathan was a hero worth cheering for. I also really liked how smart Summer was and the dynamic between her and Nathan from the very start. It was swoony and sweet and the ending made me grin. Apple cider doughnuts, lilies, and Thai food is all I am going to say.😉 Oh, did I mention all the kisses in this story cause… whew…SWOON. If you’re looking for a fabulous new contemporary romance, look no further than this. Arc Review Winning My Queen by Madelyn Smith 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 "That through His grace we're saved, and because of His grace we can become better." I honestly don't know where to start with the review. I was so intoxicated by this book that halfway through, I realized I had not made any notes for a review. Thankfully, this is one of those books that every detail and emotion of the story is imprinted in your brain. Okay, that's enough rambling from me, down to business. Alex is a hotshot movie star from California. While on his way to the family cabin in Washington, to avoid people and get his life back together. Accidentally, involving a cow, he ends up in the small town called Bolt and meets Reina. Reina is the school nurse and soccer coach and is tasked to take care of Alex after he suffers some memory lost. He shamelessly flirts with her every chance he gets. But Reina is a feisty one ( I think she gets it from Bessie), she is not about to fall for a city boy who will leave Bolt and not think of it agian. Every scene played out in my head as if I was watching one of my favorite Christmas movies. (No, it is not a Christmas theme book.) You get to laugh and cry throughout the book. It is spellbinding. The intensity of the emotions in this book is so real and thought out. As someone who loves her cookies and reading. It was not an option. Cookies and salty tears do not make a good combination. It tells a story of how you can find love at the most unexpected time or place and that through the strength of God, you can overcome anything. It shows you the importance of family and prayer, and that family is more than just blood relations. Love the authors snack list at the beginning of the book, which is related to her characters. Amid Crimson Ashes was a quick and entertaining read full of vampires, elementals, and Raeths. After getting a glimpse of Toni and Drake in Beneath Fated Bonds I was curious about their story. I am so glad Anna decided to publish this so we could learn more about them. Their romance was definitely a whirlwind and progressed so fast. Being as old as Drake would definitely make it easier to know what you want and not be afraid to go after it. I enjoyed being in the Immortal Accords world again. I especially loved getting more back story about the Elementals. I was curious how Toni came to have her powers and we get that question answered in this book.
