I haven’t posted in about a year. I haven’t really drawn either. During this time I have lost over 100 dear followers which is totally fair. Nevertheless, I don’t want to get deep into details and reasons to my absence. I want this post to be all about my come back:) As always, it is the art challenges that put me back on track. I love being a part of an art community even for a short period of time. Art challenges give me a lot of motivation and inspiration. So, many thanks to @elinaellis @art.huss @illustrator.uroki and their #childinmearthuss challenge. Above all, it’s not just an ordinary art challenge, all the tasks are dedicated to depicting ourselves in our childhood. I have always wanted to do it and my dreams finally came true:) So here is my self portrait (it’s not quite a portrait but yeah). I was trying to recall what I really loved doing before I got under influence of my friends and social media. It took me a while because it was so long ago I almost forgot my own self. But I remembered! My favourite thing ever was reading all kinds of encyclopaedias I could get my hands on - space, history, dinosaurs etc. Every time they asked me what I wanted for my birthday I asked for another encyclopaedia:) My favourites of course were ones about animals. I used to read them over and over again, then i would try to redraw amazing illustrations they had to my albums. I used to imagine myself being a biologist or a zookeeper because this would give the opportunities to interact with all the animals in real life and not just in my imagination. Meanwhile i would always ask for all pets I there were, and I used to have many - cats, dog, rabbit, hamsters. Anyways, this text is getting way too long now, I just wanted to highlight once again how I’m happy to be back on track, deeply grateful to @elinaellis @illustrator.uroki @art.huss for the #childinmearthuss challenge! I just love a book which encourages children to get outside into nature. This riotously colourful work of non-fiction is one of the best to encourage children to get into nature and explore the marvellous world of minibeasts. Today’s upload is my take on @mag_takac ‘s adorable fairy child. Fun fact: A ladybug, in danish, is a ‘mariehøne, which translates to a ‘marie hen’. There’s a popular nursery rhyme about it flying to the sky to ask for good weather.
